  1. I have my tie downs made and am ready for Oshkosh 2017. It would be great to camp with the Mooney crew, but I cannot find time in my schedule for the required formation clinic. It will be fun nonetheless. Anyone else going? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. That appears to be the Ashby referenced above. My glareshield cover was in bad shape when I bought the plane and the opening was covered with painted real-estate sign that had been somewhat cut to fit. I molded a piece of fiberglass to fit, painted it flat black and attached with thin Velcro. Overall, it looks far better than it did.
  3. The strap shown looks a lot like a piece of baffling material. Seems a tire sidewall would be a far more substantial replacement. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. I am sure the answer is simple, but could someone tell me where the vacuum filter is on a M20J? I am sure mine could use some attention. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. No thanks. That's like a Walmart steering wheel cover. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Fixed mine with the Spruce kit. Zero problems since. Took the time to clean the inside of the glass while I was in there. Good as new. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. I saw mine peak at 36 ppm in climb and back down to 5-6 in cruise. That appears to be common, but concerning when the red lights start flashing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. My initial thought was a tap and new, slightly larger, bolt. Am I oversimplifying this? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. I have a Juris Doctor degree. Will gladly help you sue the MD that does poor work. No fee, unless we win. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Let me know if you find those hoops. I would much prefer the flight vs. drive time myself. I guess you could fly into Prattville or Montgomery, but what's the point?
  11. If it helps, mine is mounted to the nose wheel well just to the right of the trim indicator.
  12. I didn't hear the beeping, but attention was drawn to the flashing red lights. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. I saw 35 on the ground and averaged 4-9 in the air. Should I be concerned? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Good work Dan. Mine came in the mail from Amazon earlier this week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Purchased mine from Amazon today. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. What is the door pin mod and wing smoothing? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. It is, but not allowed for certified applications. I have thought about this issue myself and like the added security of the spark plug lead on aviation plugs screwing down onto the plug itself as opposed to the little metal clip on auto plugs. There is a lot more vibration on aviation engines than auto engines and wouldn't want anything to come loose.
  18. OMG! You just discovered a new debate point for LOP v. ROP that has not been beat to death! Break out the gloves fellas.
  19. Assume you are talking about certification for dual mag replacement as it is already approved for single mag engines. Let me know how the field approval goes. That may be a viable option. I'm not fussing about that. I have been a thorn in their side for over a year now. My J has the dual mag and IMHO the electronic ignition would be a huge safety improvement over what is currently there. I cannot guarantee that I will be the first to buy an EI when it is certified for dual mag replacement, but the order will be placed the moment I hear of the approval.
  20. Disappointment in 3, 2, 1... Certified installations cannot use auto spark plugs. Must be certified aircraft spark plugs.
  21. Subscribed Dan. Your story has convinced me of the value of this device. I'm in for one from Sensorcon if they work with you on a group buy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  22. Has anyone looked at putting a group together to order a batch of these? Looks like a good savings. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. The paint, interior and avionics look nice. I would be concerned about the engine though. It's advertised at ~1300 hours SMOH. Given what you said, I have real reservations that the work done would qualify as a major. At best, it is around a 1600 hour engine since the case was split. At worst, it's a run-out. Just a PP, maybe one of our AP/IA's will weigh in.
  24. Silly question, but you did confirm that your F doesn't have pedal extensions installed right? I only ask because my J had extensions installed when I bought it and I was thinking about another set of holes in the rail. Upon closer inspection, I discovered the extensions on the pilot's side and removed them. I now sit with the seat locked in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd hole from the back (depends primarily on whether I'm slouching on a longer trip). For reference, I am 6'2" with 34" inseam. I have had 6'6" passengers onboard with no problems at all.
  25. Hmmm... Chocks and ropes always seem to manage just fine. Haven't ever had the need to use the parking brake personally. As to the checklist/run up, I have always just held the brakes. Maybe I'm simple minded (you know us southerners). If holding the brakes doesn't work, I would proceed back to the hangar until the brakes and/or pilot is checked out.
