  1. How would you describe your "teaching style" Don? Collaborative, Authoritiative? Both work. I will also continue to communicate my point of view. Adults can review and make decisions on their own...such as who do I wish to select as my instructor or maintenance person. I would submit that knowing both is a plus. Thank you for letting me better know you...
  2. This website is about opinions. PeeVee gave his opinion. I gave my opinion. For that he and I were personaly attacked. I have been banned from the site for less. What is the difference? No question that Don is experienced, passionate landlord/Mooney CFI. Good for him. I submit that his characterizations of Mooney owners that are also expeienced passionate Mooney owner/pilots as he did in the posts says more about him, his demeanor, his acceptance of others. -Now if you want to specifically have a debate on what I stated that you disagree with. If you want to provide value as a purported teacher...then I am willing to engage. If you want to call me dim for my input, fine. The only time I had an incident in my aircraft I was "under instruction" The instructor called the maneuver. ALL humans are fallable Don. All Shops, even Mooney type shops make mistakes. Hope you continue to successfully train many more aspiring Mooney pilots...Safely. I will just continue to question authority and learn.
  3. I would have preferred that you said "I feel sorry for people all over the world burdened by seeing "terrorists" everywhere you go". I don't personally live in fear, but I am awake that yes, there are people who would rather do me harm and take from me vs. shaking my hand and accepting me. Far more Goodies than Baddies in the world I too believe.
  4. Question authority. A great way to live life. Or be a sheeple. What me worry.
  5. Wow, must of struck a nerve with ol Don. Having you assess me as a bit dim...cuts like a knife. Or not. Anti authority "type". Never felt that way, but hey I will join that club. Thank you for the complement.
  6. Unless you are on the golf course. No fashion police allowed there.
  7. If it walks, talks, quacks...It is probably a duck. Profiling: Another tool in the anti-crime tool basket.
  8. Photo is scary...but not in a terrorist kind of way. Call the fashion police...
  9. I have not, nor do I ever plan to fly K's, Rockets, Missile's or Long Body Mooney's. That said, I just don't feel that a Vintage Mooney is much different to fly than a Piper Cherokee or Arrow. That is what I flew in before transitioning into the Mooney. Learned how to swing Johnson bar in a couple of landings. Learned about benefits of full flaps on landings on MooneySpace...after owning for years and hundreds of landings. It is not a taildragger. It is not a Warbird. It is NOT high performance. Speed control is important to land well. Bounces are power on, trim it and go around. Stop making this a big fearfest mystery. Come off of the "high horse". If Mooney specific trainers want to advertise, let them advertise. Benefit, YES! Mandatory? Hell NO! The maintenance issue and this have been beaten up in other threads. To each their own. There is NOT one way to skin a Mooney cat. One size does NOT fit all. There, enough of "another perspective" to the "mandatory call for Mooney savvy trainers on transition and Mooney specific shops for service...
  10. I have bi-focals in my sunglasses. No issues. I am looking through the top (no magnification) except when looking at panel.
  11. Top antenna is for ADSB and side input is GPS.
  12. Minimal. An A&P that has worked on multiple Mooney's. Brought mine back from it's neglected hanger queen state. Experience is never mandatory, but any experience, that doesn't kill you, is a valuable experience in my book. Live and learn...Learn AND live.
  13. I like the video of the raptors that pick up baby goats and drop them off the cliff for a nice meal. Some impressive video of them taking their prey. Nature, awesome, but not always rated G.
  14. g3expert gave me a quick reply. 696 provides GDL39 with GPS position. Confirmed what you had said. 696 works like your unit when connected to GDL39 and receiving GPS signal. All good.
  15. It has always worked great and that antenna was plugged in really poorly, so thought it was redundant. Good to have confirmation. It is "outta there"...Thanks for feedback.
  16. Bad day...Hope it is close to TBO and he can save some money on overhaul.
  17. Scary, but pretty damn cool too! Bet he/she had their eagle eye on ya.
  18. O.K. I will de-clutter that guy outta there.
  19. If I walked around corner and saw "that" I might define "it" as an EMERGENCY and exit through the panic bar door
  20. I like the hat. Needs to be holding out an adult refreshment though. I do like BIG jugs Clarence, That's why IO-360's rock.
  21. Do you have a four probe engine monitor?
  22. Price is right. I just dislike the analog gauges. The voltage gauge lack of deflection/warning caused me grief. There are digital solutions that are so much better than the old six pack. You win my CB old-school of the week award. NOT slamming, just say'n...
  23. Not a fan of the blanket assessments made about the vintage Mooney Nose-gear. The "all should be replaced, not inspected"...advice based on two negative experiences that would be lightning strike odds to duplicate. The Mooney gear is simple and time-tested by a large fleet. Yes, our Mooney's are susceptible to towing induced damage. Yes, all welded steel has cycle/time limits. THAT is why you have an annual inspection and as a pilot/owner you inspect and maintain your systems. There is something "off" about the scenarios. I want photos. Glad that he updated info stating that the two trusses were damaged by improper ground handling. I love not like the manual Johnson bar gear on my plane. I love not like the Mooney landing gear system. I have not seen a spate of nose gear collapses that are not pilot induced in vintage Mooney's...
  24. Love this thread. I can tell it is a labor of love. The result is beautiful. Get your wife hypnotized so she flies with you. That beautiful plane should be enjoyed "as a couple". If my wife could be "converted"...anyone's can. Don't give up on that just like you have not given up on making everything "right".
