  1. I hope my children and future grandchildren (please) enjoy looking at some of my comments in my logbook after I am gone. They were a part of a lot of the joy that the Mooney and general aviation have provided. 693 total and over 550 in my Mooney. Looking forward to 1000 hours in a few years! Good for you all that have already achieved it and more. 889 landings. Closing in on 1000
  2. THAT is not even close to your original scheme...and it is pretty awesome!
  3. Not a fan of 60's paint colors, schemes or wood-grain genuine simulated authentic replica wood shotgun facias...My paint resembles first photo in JD green....yuck To each their own.
  4. Bruce's Custom Covers
  5. $100/small rubber disc is a rip-off and a symptom of what is wrong with GA and FAA. A big joke that is not funny. For those that want readily available boots for Brittain components this is the problem. Hoops that must be jumped through for certification of compounds in rubber and lack of old...not as good 60's compounds that must be used or a tested and certified compound for your rubber.... The cert process is flawed and FAA will not fix it. They won't cede power/control for a BS physical....
  6. I just realized why I live in the north and visit in the winter. It it hot enough up here. I too get High to stay dry.
  7. You have to pull down on the bar collar. If it is locked it will not unlock without pushing the thumb detent. I used to pull toward me, but this is not as effective as pulling down. Sorry to hear about your GUP. She will be better when back in the air. Hope your insurance gets sorted OK for you too.
  8. Twin, while sunning on lake with family comes in low making right traffic and does a 40+ bank on what would be final from base...sigh... He is a twin pilot, so he has got to be good, right....?....sigh It is left traffic at airport... Wanted my handheld to let him know how awesome I thought he was...
  9. Glad to be out of the boat business. I would be so tired after pulling my son around the lake wondering what pontoon, jet ski or downed skier was going to be missed. Swivel left, swivel right...
  10. And woman. (Keep it up). Really proud of what my wife has accomplished in a year. That is a huge motivation for me. You see the massive transformation. It is a lot of work, but worth it for sure. Thanks for the kind words. If we can do it anyone with true desire can We used to split a Tour of ItAly at The Olive Garden...thinking we were being good. Saw the calories...not doing that ever again. Do miss the breadsticks...
  11. I was on extreme south end of even plus 500 and other Mooney was on extreme north end of even plus 500...now I am reading that some avoid that altitude 'cause everybody else is there... Our angle was pretty severe...neither one of us was "wrong", but both close to being dead right
  12. Yup, OK. Got that and it worked in my close call. Both saw imminent collision and avoided catastrophe at about a five second to twisted metal timeframe. From this thread it is not that rare. I have had ten close and two really close. This was first that if no turn would have likely hit. I wonder how many I have missed?
  13. He knows I am a CB and would have used it cracked...
  14. Here is another useful load gain and the sign of an awesome co-owner. Flew for a round of golf and had my old iPad on wing in flight bag. I was at front of plane and heard crunch....he had grabbed my bag that had pad unzipped in pocket. Down it went cracking screen. It still worked and was older iPad 2. An iPad Air arrived a week later engraved with my name. He said he could of gotten creative on the inscription. Class act...
  15. Worth it to see Kelly in her new clothes Clarence. Mine went from tight to right. Just an awesome transformation. She has motivated me as walking partner and non snacking partner too. She swims and walks. I just walk the four miles a day. Totally agree Hank. They come off so hard and go on so easy. Thank you for the well wishes. Should be a fun day. (October)
  16. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
  17. Happy to report useful load has increased by 80+ pounds in a year. Thankful to our daughters pending nuptial for major changes in what goes in the pie hole. I can only claim 20 of the total gain, I mean loss... There are multiple other positives that have resulted from the lifestyle change. It is a fun ride...
  18. Ignorance was bliss, I guess. Wow, that is a lot of input to counter "Big Sky" in last couple days. Might have to take some engine fund and divert it to ADSB....be safe everybody.
  19. So many really great posts on this thread. Ran out of likes. If you have not already checked to see if your representatives for your state are active in support of 3rd class medical reform on highway bill you need to be writing. My reps are fully in support. Yes, it is politics that is making ALPA "come out" the way they have on the issue. I have been impacted by goofy medical decisions. It is not the cost it is the impact of decisions beyond local treating doctor and your "mirror check". If this is not done it is B.S.
  20. I did my flight review a few weeks ago. I am a VFR pilot and totally enjoy my review as I get out of the box. I asked for hood training and I proceeded to fly the whole review with foggles on. Slow flight power off and on stalls under hood. Upset recovery. Feeling good about myself until instructor pulled power and said you are in the soup. I am thinking pitch down for airspeed and I am not understanding...while looking at instruments why I can not get 100mph. I lost 1000 feet before instructor said are you diving? Well duh. Great experience. He said O.K. You just broke out. He was giving me headings and got me lined up with Washington. Redeemed myself with a nice full landing and several more nice landings before hood return to home field. Unusual attitude recovery training would be great!
  21. I am feeling a lot better. Keep the white knucklers coming...
  22. Wow, glad that worked out...scarey
  23. I do not fly at night. I do not fly over large bodies of water. I do not fly over mountains...
  24. He does have a cool hat though...
