  1. I agree, there is one (1) spark that shows up on the panel
  2. Have you contacted a MSC to see what they sell them for?
  3. It’s amazing how foggy they get.... a good cleaning makes a world of good
  4. My E and 172 both have safety wire wrapped in a figure “8”? around the control cable clamps..... I figured it was standard practice seeing how they were maintained by 2 different people originally
  5. I think the black rubber piece downstream is the dust boot for the inner/outer cable..... it’s late and I’m on my phone
  6. These guys will make what ever you want HERE, if your looking for the ones like bungee cords go to a motorcycle shop, they are like 14x14 and you can hook them together
  7. Remote filters have multiple places they could leak or fail, I believe you can get the Lycoming adapter from Aircraft Spruce
  8. Verify you have the correct tire pressure, get it up on jacks, disconnect the gear door rods and retract the gear, you should be able to spin the nose wheel. If you don’t have access to jacks or don’t feel like jacking the aircraft, clean the suspect area and put masking tape over the area and go fly, the tape will now show the telltale if it’s rubbing. There are adjustable bushing that dictate how far up in the well the nose gear goes, service manual walks you through the process if needed
  9. You can look up in the wheel well with out jacking, shiny aluminum is the telltale sign
  10. Some days require a combination of both
  11. Your preaching to the choir, we tail the Mooney in the corner at 45° and the 172 tails in somewhat straight with the right wing going over the Mooney. On 100°+ days I’m exhausted by the time I’m ready to fly the Mooney....... Tug is in the works but I seem to always have smaller projects that pop up
  12. Tenth ain’t bad for this crowd.... Merry Christmas to ALL
  13. Stretching (longer wheelbase) does increase stability if the “Trail” stays in check. Here’s a website I used HERE to get bikes to handle correctly. The nose gear on our Mooneys are more like a “Springer” front end than conventional suspension, there’s a guy on the west coast (Sugar Bear) that is the springer guru. You mention the mains have old disk, changing them out will change the Rake which changes........ lol
  14. Maybe Santa will bring you a Crystal Ball for Christmas......... I got mine off eBay, no manual so I don’t know to use it
  15. 30+ hrs ago I was a line tech at a multi line Motorcycle dealer, Service Manager asked if I would work on a Honda self propelled push mower, my reply was give it to the guy (can’t remember his name) that does the power equipment, as he walked away he said I thought you’d like it seeing how it won’t turn to the left. Wait, what? It’s a push mower why wouldn’t it turn turn left? .... long story short, there a sprague type bearing in the rear wheel that had failed. The point to this is that anything mechanical can and will do odd things, like @M20Doc said, somehow the brakes are being applied as the nose wheel is turned.... after all the rudder pedals are connected to it.
  16. Would it matter, seeing how handling would only get better the farther back? Also as the discs (biscuits, doughnuts) wear it would move farther aft as well..... correct?
  17. I've been tempted to use a little HP as a broom. My hangar gets ZERO breeze, but always seems to be dusty, I think my neighbors clean their hangars and throw the dirt in mine after I leave
  18. With 2 planes in the hangar I no choice but to "Tail" them in, I have pulled one or the other "Nose In" for maintenance, but have never taxied in or even ran an engine where the prop blast would enter the hangar. The reason I'm bringing this up was talking to a buddy who told me about a guy that has taxied into his hangar for years and it finally caught up with him. Dont know many of the details other than he now has a back door in his hangar, a bent airplane, a bent prop, and a engine tear down in the near future
  19. Make the changes when its up to temp, also its the Arm that the cable attaches to that needs to go stop to stop not the cable
  20. Print one
  21. If it’s for the mounts, my PlanePower conversion came with the mounts
  22. Also verify the brake caliper moves (floats) on the caliper pins
  23. Installing the 70° stems was the best 2.5hrs spent.... well this week anyway
  24. Looks like these are for the Shaw 416-50 caps, yours are 431-9 in the picture. You also said you got the part number from the Mooney Parts Manual?
  25. I seem to remember mine was the same and LASAR explained that more Trail is better.
