  1. Here’s the issue - I’m getting good static MP on the ground and down the runway - but I looked at my POH, and I’m not getting anywhere near those climb rates -and I’m not even ever at gross - POH SAYS I should still be getting 600 FPM at 10k. That does NOT HAPPEN. I’m doing good to get 500 ft a minute by5-6k feet. What’s happening?
  2. Sounds like we take the exact route
  3. Paul, I’ll fly with you any day of the week and consider it an honor. lol - let’s go!
  4. It would probably take another 7 minutes to get to 13,500 - but I’ll definitely try. It’s so hard for me to get it LOP
  5. And this most definitely could be true - OAT was 40 degrees. Didn’t think about density altitude
  6. Yeah I kind of figured. :/ some people eh? Lol
  7. Not sure I understand the reference.
  8. Thanks for your response. Makes sense - I just wanted some confirmation. It’s the first time I’ve taken the POH and compared published TAS to actual numbers. And yeah i never push it with take off distances! Lol
  9. OK, yet another probably silly question by me. I am going over my owners manual with a fine tooth comb and comparing it with some numbers that I got in a flight the other day. My airport that I base at is in Fort Worth, I have a place in Durango Colorado. That is a 690 statute mile flight. My calculations based off of my speed and fuel burn always show that I need to stop because it’s too close for comfort and making it nonstop. However, when I look at the owners manual and go to the 10,000 feet page where I compare my power settings and altitude to the power settings and altitudes listed in the table, I am not getting the true airspeed or the range in statute miles that shows in the book. Sunday, I got my airplane up to 12,500 feet, At about 19 inches of manifold pressure, 2400 RPM, My calculations show that I was getting 152 miles an hour true. The book at those settings shows that I should have been getting 164 miles an hour true. It shows that I should be burning 8.5 gallons an hour, which is accurate, and it shows my range in statute miles to be 881. I don’t feel I could get close to 881 miles. Most times, I feel like i would be lucky to get 700 miles to Durango. I just don’t Dee like I’m going as fast as I should. Anyone else have any similar experience or maybe can shed some light on this for me? thanks!

  11. Welcome - Great looking airplane - I bought my C three years ago - Wasn't sure of my long term plans until about a month ago - Doing tank reseal with weapnomore in May - Paint later this year with Jeff at at paintyourplane.com. quoted me an excellent price. When I get to engine overhaul (Im right at 2000 hours and going strong) I will look at Jewell Airvcraft Engines as well as JB Aircraft Engine Service. Definitely a close knit group here - don't worry about covering your tail number - its plastered on the side of your airplane in big characters for all to see. Good luck and ask any question you have. You will get a wealth of information here.
  12. What are those colors? And codes?
  13. The options for 64 were different - a color called “canyon gold metallic” was used for the color around the window - then choices between an orange, silver blue, light emerald, and berly blue, were options for the bottom. I don’t necessarliy neeed to USE THESE exact colors - but I would like to get glose - I have no idea what their Berly blue looks like.
  14. Love these colors - definitely more than I like the 64s orange bottom. One of the alternate bottom colors is a “berly” blue. Wonder if there is any way to figure out what that blue is supposed to look like....
  15. I love finding this and will be interested in your book. Count me down
  16. So the top picture is a D model, the middle picture appears to be a 64 E model, in the bottom picture appears to be a C model. I like that color scheme of that C model. That’s probably the metallic orange base with the Canyon gold metallic.
  17. Hahaha good point - that’s pretty extreme but looks awesome! im liking the 63 “gunmetal” trim color much better than the 64 “canyon gold metallic) color - plus not sure how silver blue, light emerald, or Berly blue would go with the canyon gold trim. Looks like each year had its own “trim - which also wrapped around the side windows” with several “bottom” colors. The lone trim for 63 was gunmetal - the lone trim for 64 is canyon gold metallic.
  18. Ok - so I’m getting the plane stripped and painted - I’ve gone back and forth over this, but am leaning towards trying to get as close to factory original as I can. I’ve done some searching In here, and realize it will be hard to find out the exact paint color scheme based of serial number or tail number. I did, however, find a few pictures and color codes in the back of the spare parts catalogue. The top plane represents the color scheme for the B and C model Mooney - year’s 61 - 64. The second page shows towards the bottom, the different color codes associated with that year range of Mooney’s. The third page is a continuation of different colors for the bottom section - trim - and so on. Being armed with this information, is there somewhere I can go to get samples of these colors (are they common enough that any paint shop will have them?). I’m not sure I like the choices of the 64 model, the 63 paint colors give more options - would it be futile to do all this work trying to get close to original - but end up using 63 color combinations because I don’t like the 64 combinations? Sorry - these are questions I Would just as soon as the wife, but “she doesn’t care” - just looking for input. Thanks yall!
  19. STILL WANT ONE!!
  20. SOOOO Weve been dealing with SLIGHTLY slower than normal speeds, and higher than normal Oil Temps - I asked my MECH to replace the Vernatherm - as I have seen those that say this has CURED their oil temp problems. While he was in there, he showed me a fairly decent sized crack in the top of my air box - so is it possible this could be causing the problem? he wants to Weld it - Can I get a new one for not WAYY TOO MUCH? Thanks for the help!
  21. Please count me in!
  22. I’m just here for awful Charlie’s profile pic
  23. Understood - and agree 100 percent - but this doesn’t really address if the Orion 650s eliminate the need of a tail mounted NAV / anti collision light - due to its 360 degree coverage - I fully feel that they eliminate the need of a belly beacon. I’m still trying to figure out if a sole belly beacon is sufficient for the “30 degree above and below the horizontal plane”.
