  1. My POH only has them in MPH.
  2. I have a dual scale airspeed indicator, with MPH on the outside, I find it a bit busy, especially since I used knots, I like to replace the scale with a knots only and of course all the appropriate markings, ie like the Bravo. Anybody ever had this done? Seems like is should be relatively easy and inexpensive
  3. That should be easy to check, SS is non-magnetic.
  4. A factory rebuilt is about $30K, and shop overhaul is about $23K. Or go large (if you have a Hartzell prop) and get a rebuilt IO-390 for $32K, and get extra 10HP
  5. I don't understand, I've never seen them move the plane by pushing on it? They have tug/golf cart/tractor to do that, otherwise how would they steer it? The only time I push on the wing is if I'm at the fuel pump and just want to push the plane back to give somebody else room to get in.
  6. Here is the still frame of what happens:
  7. The problem is when/IF you go to sell, your tastes may put off some buyers, and they will deduct for have to repaint.
  8. Dude, you need help!
  9. Wow, 1 blade, do you wait at all for the fuel to vaporize as Bartman mention? Do you move the mixture to rich slowly, or just push it in as in the 172SP video? When you say fire, mine sounds more like it's coughing, and fires up only after push the mixture in, it's like it doesn't have enough fuel to run, which kinda make sense. I assume the full 8 seconds fixes this problem.
  10. I follow the POH, ...full rich, fuel pump to est. pressure, ICO; It takes maybe 5 seconds before it actually starts... on youtube there is a vid of 172SP cold start: It starts much quicker, uses fuel pump then mixture, so I tried it, but it didn't shorten my startup time. Why mixture is in ICO position on start? seems counterintuitive. I tried leaving the mixture in full rich position, that didn't seem to help either. After it starts, it runs fine. Clearly I'm not the only one:
  11. Are you using the lighting bus or photocell to determine your brightness? If lighting bus, you might tried configuring to use the photocell, could be a rheostat problem.
  12. Yikes, $1500+ for something to move a airplane just out of the hanger
  13. I had a problem with my HSI that was solved by simply cleaning the electrical contacts, try the simple, cheap fix first. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. I would wait for any new announcements from upcoming Oshkosh before making a decision.
  15. Yes, there is wealthy people in other countries. Why can't they use a mooney to fly from point a to b, just like we do? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. You can wire up warning lamps for certain engine sensors; fuel remaking, oil pres, etc on 830 so I assume same is true for 900 Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. I recommend this link, it shows the difference between the long/short body models as well as a great overview of the F model: http://www.mooneypilots.com/mapalog/M20F%20Evaluation/M20F_Evaluation_Report.html
  18. IF it was only that easy, given the $60K price range, you will not get exactly what you want, prioritize your needs. Also somebody I think on this group said that you should have 15-20% of the plane's value in the bank for 1st year maintenance items, whoever said it was correct. Owner's who are selling tend to defer maintenance.
  19. In the USA, you are correct, but GA growth areas are China, Brazil, Russia....places that are big and don't have our transportation infrastructure.
  20. It's not the price of the plane that costs so much (that's a 1 time hit), it's the yearly expenses: fuel, hanger, maintenance, upgrades, insurance, etc, which over the many years of ownership will dwarf the cost of the plane. First ? to ask yourself, how much can I afford to spend on a yearly basis. this will dictate what airplane you should buy. IFR is more expensive to buy and maintain (subscriptions, avionics must be certified). Hanger vs tiedown? Figure your budget, then your requirements, from there deciding which plane becomes easy.
  21. are you double filtering??
  22. I have a Gill in mine, but have no idea how old it is.
  23. I'm talking about using the GTN-650 RAIM prediction page, see pg 14-10 in pilots guide. No Java or IPAD required. When I did my instrument training, I did this every time.
  24. Did you do the RAIM prediction? My avionics shop replaced all my coax cabling (comm and gps), said it was required by Garmin, I wonder if this is a a new requirement in order to address these issues?
  25. It doesn't require a serial encoder, which with the 76 did, so instead of paying $500+ a separate box, I just upgraded the entire transponder Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
