Welcome Eric! There are a lot of good planes out there for sale including my E which I just recently posted on controller. I'll attach the link. I think either model you will find perfect for your mission and the efficiency is nice too! http://www.controller.com/listings/aircraft/for-sale/17393175/1966-mooney-m20e-super-21 Mike

Good topic, I often wonder if what I do with mine is the right thing. They are certainly something of value. I keep mine in an aluminum locking case I bought at harbor frieght (not fire proof) along with all the other paper work, and put it in the closet at home.

Kelty great job! Glad you and your fiancé get to plan a wedding! And thank you for your service! Humiliation is humbling... and Kelty, you my friend are just that! My dad always told me growing up "son, there are no old BOLD pilots." I come from a family of pilots. Grandfather Airforce, great Aunt WASP, great Uncle United captian, Dad PPL. And not one of them ever told me they were too good to make a mistake. What I've read lately on these crash threads from a "few" people makes me think there are "perfect" pilots out there... cough cough... sarcasm! So rather then chastised kelty for doing the one thing most of our instructors taught us to do first in an emergency situation "Fly the plane". 900' AGL at that! Congratulate him on surviving "which almost all of you have". Were suppose to learn in these situations, not judge. Because it could be any one of us in that position the next time it happens. Mike

2016 was a great year! 105.9 hours flown instrument rating in Feb. baby girl in Oct. commercial rating in Dec. in 2017 I plan to do multi instrument/commercial add on, Start flying traffic watch for Clear Channel KNX1070 in the LA area and build some hours. Mike

I've got a couple hours in your airplane! Mike Haney is like a second dad to me. His son Jeff was the best man in my wedding. You got yourself a nice TLS Bravo. Can't wait to see what you do to the panel. Owned my E for 3 years 3 months. 320hrs. An instrument rating and commercial rating later... Mike

If the p lead is not broken, the end of it inside the mag may just be worn... I've soldered the tip of it to build it up so it makes better contact. Consult a mechanic of course. Good luck!

So sad... non of us are immune from making the same mistake. Speculation is easy on the ground. Very sad. Prayers to the family. Fly safe my friends! Mike

Multi commercial/instrument add on. Tail wheel endorsement. Yuma formation clinic. maybe Oshkosh.

Awesome Mike! I'd love to fly that corridor if I ever make it to the east coast! The wife, baby, dog and I flew from KAJO-KWJF to go see family. 30 min flight beats 2.5 in the car! Happy new year! Mike

$400 a month. It has power, no heat. Big rolling doors and it's the larger sized T-hangar. Painted floors and plenty of room for storage. No yearly tax. And airport with a VOR/GPS which comes in handy when the marine layer rolls in. Friendly airport bums. Fully gated...Need a gate card to get into the airport during night hours. Nice tasty restaurant, and aircraft spruce is literally around the corner... that's the expensive part... wife loves the hangar and the plane THANK GOD! It has a great paint shop, good A/P's and a lot of help around. And we just got a new Mooneyspace member there besides me (Skates97)! So I'd say it's worth the money... not to mention the cheapest hangar in SoCal. KAJO, Corona ,CA

I also prefer the compass card over whisky. That was one of the first panel changes I made in my E. also easier reading the compass for situational awareness during partial panel IMO. Mike

Thanks guys! Now I just need to build some more time to do anything with it! Robert: get it done! I did the American flyers online course, studied for a week and took the test! Piece of cake if you have the time. Cnoe: yea that's me on the left, I don't skate anymore but I still wear the clothes

Thanks Richard! That's awesome! More examiners should be like him! Mike

Well after about 4 hours practicing maneuvers and a bit of studying for the oral, I passed my commercial check ride! I was stressed as usual for a check ride but honestly my examiner was awesome! He made it fun! Thought I'd share my accomplishment with ya'll! Mike

So my wife and I took a road trip to Austin this week and on the way out we emailed Lori Collier and requested a tour of the factory. She was very helpful. We ended up getting a late tour (6:30pm) today on our way out of town. Robert Dutton VP of production operations stayed late just to walk us around. The factory has an open door to Mooney owners. There are some rules though, which we understood. Sign a few papers and you're in. But from the sound of it Mooney has some tricks up thier sleeve with future product and I can't wait to find out. They are also planning renovations of the factory... a face lift if you will. It was great walking around the assembly line our E model rolled off of 50 years ago. He walked us all the way around the line and also took us into the sales room to see the last two single door mooneys that will be sold. It was very cool to be there and I recommend you guys take a tour if you haven't already. Mike
