  1. You can also make lower panels with some sheet aluminum and I don't know say cover them in leather. use the current panels as a template.
  2. why do you have stainless clamps and water drops on your updraft intake tubes?
  3. When we were flying up to get my plane the Mooney guy that was helping me said. You do know you are buying a Mooney. After about an hour in the plane looking at me he said "I guess you will fit"
  4. There is a better solution.
  5. You will want to remove all the duct tape inside the cabin because it holds water and replace with Aluminum HVAC tape
  6. The holes does line up with the actuator bolt. You are going to need a socket with the sides of the socket ground down to get it to work.
  7. As a point of clarity Yetti was in use prior to the overpriced cooler scene became popular. It started with a bike ride where someone was drafting me and they said it was like drafting behind a "sasquatch" and I said no I was from the northern Yetti tribe. There was a YettiCross cyclocross race series. With a couple hundred dollars of faux fur you can have your own yetti costume too.
  8. One of the hides came from Italy
  9. Same. lots of good stuff there. I did burn tests on the leather and it passed 3 tests using the same sample. If the leather under my butt catches fire I have bigger issues. I redid the all the lowers and baggage area in leather. Which seams much safer than the fabric and cardboard that came from the factory. the leather is aluminum backed. Oh and I was bored and built a Ice Cooler
  10. It took me about 90 hours to get good at the mooney. You have to start somewhere. Yes things happen faster, but in the pattern you are going mostly the same speed.
  11. 1975 had ashtrays
  12. Pull lower side panels. Check your tank vents for obstructions. Pull the panel on the lower leading edge. Do a leak down test on mechanical fuel pump. Check under wings for blue staining. Check tank selector valve for leaks
  13. Ya I hated that my mom made me take typing class during summer on a manual typewriter. But now I thank her.
  14. Or put another way. Let's say all your material is certed. But the install of said material is not up to good workmanship.
  15. Who signs off the plane at Annual?
  16. Kind of, Technically Mooney are under CAR3 certification so that is what material needs to be certified to. There is an AC for burn certification that tries to make CAR3 planes go with the higher standard.... but as we know AC are not legal. That said work with the IA that will sign off the plane as he/she needs to sign off on the work. I made the entry to say it conformed with the AC. I burn tested some leather. The same sample of leather passed 3 burn tests. You are supposed to use new leather each time. The burn box specified in the AC for testing in no way simulates real world of how the material in the plane would actually burn.
  17. Well the Parts manual 205 section that I got the catch number from was on page 206 and was listed for 1975 and up. Mine was built in dec 1975 and is a 1975. The catch seems to be working as designed.
  18. Mine has a lock on the knob. Or what the PM calls a Catch. Right angle post on knob Turns into a right angle catch (like spring steel) that is part of the cable assembly Item 91

  20. for the 24 volt crowd https://www.ebay.com/itm/284476285606?hash=item423c1ba2a6:g:5ooAAOSwd7RfsQtg

  22. WD-40 is not a lubricant. It is a Water Displacement. It says so in the name. Tri flow is good for everything that pivots or slides in the plane.
  23. Heat your wrench and bend.... Or maybe these I think I would miss the rattle if I fixed them. They might need a nylon washer to be right. After all these years I have not bothered to paint them.
