  1. Hold the nose off a bit more. Taxi with yoke in lap
  2. Just jumper it. You will find the next thing that failed. Probably the caps. Remove from plane first.
  3. I have seen board glass fuses in older stuff. Usually a last line of defense type situation. This one does not look blown.
  4. Apparently Aeromotors has figured out how to make the dukes continues duty
  5. It might be stamped on it. Tell us what it is in and we can probably find the manual
  6. did your bikes have forced air cooling with low pressure and high pressure areas? I don't think we are discussing the turbos, rather the cooling dynamics of the environment where the turbos are operated.
  7. there are strap on thermocouplers. the Dynon EMS has extra inputs for extra thermocouplers. I hooked one up and left it behind the panel to see what the heat is. you could put it on the side of the big chunk of turbo metal. I would see it like this. Lots of airflow through the low pressure part of the cowl while flying. Not so much when on the ground. Even my non turbo F POH says to do things if you stay on the ground after run up.

  9. the local alternator shop aint' like it used to be. I wonder if Aeromotors that does the fuel pumps would do an alternator. It was not long ago the local shop redid a magneto on a really old air compressor engine that we dragged out from somewhere.
  10. I just did this. Used Peratex 3. One of the screws was a gusher. The permetex 3 sealed it wet. I took a utility knife and scratched off the screw head and cleaned the phillips head out. then taped off the area and Used some flat black refreshed the wing walk.
  11. So tempting. Both the D10A and the Skyview have the AP software in them. So tempted to replace the Brittian servos with electric servos and hook it up. The problem is the FAA. After the Boeing fiasco the are requiring all sorts of stuff to approve APs
  12. I would not run another battery wire through the fire wall. If you want to record Master switch on time, you can hook to the amp meter shunt that is located on the top behind the panel on the passenger side.
  13. And tractor tires. There are none. I tried in the small town, then went to the big city distributor. Nope none. So then when to the small town tire shop and asked for something that was round and would fit. They had a used one that fit. All is good.
  14. Start with an AD list Review. Yes you can find them on the FAA site and then review with your log book. You will save the IA many hours.
  15. My mags don't show much drop if at a lean setting. I do mag checks at 1700rpm
  16. Learn to weld. Move to Midland, Tx. Learn to install avionics. Seems that lots of shops need those skills.
  17. IT's not the antenna, it's not the antenna coax. Not that those don't need replacing with RG400. But you can hear it not transmitting or recieving. and ya re rack the audio panel several times to clean the connectors.
  18. Similar problem that was fixed by the copilot holding the headset plugs a certain way. Followed up by tightening the co pilot jacks. (new install of audio panel and some tall installer must have forgotten to secure them) The King 24 is running the front jacks and the little panel to the lower right there is running the back jacks. Try isolating with the lower audio panel. little switch in the middle there. That will tell you front or back jacks. Put a headset in each of the jacks and see if one make more noise or a difference. The jacks are supposed to be isolated from the metal with fiber washers. The back ones probably are because they are in plastic. The shield wires to the jacks are only grounded to the audio panel and not to the jack proper. Also try a different headset to start. Also you have your video camera jacked in somewhere. Try not using it. Also if you have a USB adapter take it out of play. Do these one at a time so you know what it is. Report back for next steps.
  19. I carry a hiking compass as a backup. It is last in the chain of backups. One on the bar above the panel. Phone, tablet, Stratux. Dynon D10A Dynon VFR Only, Garmin 430W In ascending order.
  20. The relay for the F Flaps. There are two of them. I have a new one in the box because I found it on a Relay site and bought the last one. The nice thing about the relay as long as it still works and maybe you just burned the contacts you can use the other side of the contacts which are a mirror image of the other side. The gear motor relay. Although pretty sure it is a 4 pole Ford tractor starter motor relay. Of course I have seen installs with two relays. Mine only has one, The rebuild kit for the ignition switch. I have two of the back plates because this guy was selling them on Ebay for cheap.
  21. These guys could ship a case of landing discs over. https://avunlimited.co/product/mooney-landing-gear-shock-disk/ Landing gear motors and Egear disconnects for the E and F. I searched and searched for the spline drive that is used in the E gear cable assembly and could not find it.
  22. Next update. Ordered the primary screen 10" and ADSB IN. I found myself navigating by the the 7" screen that is now tied to the Garmin 430W through the ARINC most of the time so might as well replace the primary instruments.
  23. It's not a jet. Buy the mooney. Get transition training
