  1. Could be a relay
  2. I would say Marvel Mystery Oil is the same vintage as the design of our engines. Most likely you have a bit of coking going on. MMO may get you a few more hours before you have to ream them. We had to ream mine twice. The Grumpy IA uses air pressure to remove and reinstall the keepers. I got pretty good at using the prop and top of cylinder and one of these https://www.zoro.com/craftsman-flexclawr-pickup-tool-cmmt14112/i/G604105016/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=surfaces&utm_campaign=shopping feed&utm_content=free google shopping clicks&campaignid=17303393492&productid=G604105016&v=&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwydSzBhBOEiwAj0XN4Hnaulkf2ZGlLkrzzh_QnNrmhDLUePjXyRs7LLe2KaClopkqrfjbPxoCwSwQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds The trick my other IA did was cut off two apposing claws. I can get the valve back in with just pulling the spark plug going in the bottom hole with the grabber and a flashlight in the top hole.
  3. Most people here miss the flaps as required in the Operators Manual. That said I was taught this by my transition instructor. Who is a Mooney Safety Instructor, IA/AP, Mooney E Owner with same engine. I also don't follow the Hot start procedure in the Operators Manual because it will flood the engine. Shut down at 1000-1100 with mixture. Just Crank to start and add mixture when pops. Is the way. That's quite a feat. Baby jar test should be your first step.
  4. I don't have pictures, but drilled the holes and routed both EGT outside the exhaust tubes. Used cordage to tie them together. The biggest thing is to see if you can get them all to the center of the engine when you go to the firewall. Less movement that way. It's pretty low voltages so keeping them away from the spark plug wires would seem to keep the transients away.
  5. I don't touch the mixture from cruise to landing. Just leave it set. Looks like you have your answer you over riched it. if you need more power then add throttle.
  6. It was a bad several seconds for the Bravo break up. Slowed down the video.
  7. It's like "No littering in Park" as if it is OK to litter outside the park
  8. Well at least they kept it out of the water runway. DWH has been known to have gravity surges about once a week. Looks like the registration changed hands in May. So might have been purchased earlier in the year.
  9. I believe before it was filled with a plastic panel the ash tray used to go in that cut out. Seems to be about the right size as the ash tray in my 75 F model
  10. Start with the plugs. Think about leaning. Mine is land, stable rolling, lean, pop the door.
  11. I have started having fun with the line "My family policy does not allow for that" Or "that would go against our policies" It's kind of fun to watch them short circuit when their whole career has been following the policy. And now they are faced with another policy. If they press the issue, then I just say "well um we would have to run that through the policy committee and it may take some time to get approval" "I will write up your proposal and get back to you"
  12. I narrowly missed working for that company when they acquired Northern Natural Gas. The good news is I see Galveston may get more commercial flights to support the Booze Cruises. I have a travel ban on Spirit.
  13. They trust you with millions of dollars of equipment and negotiate million dollar deals and makes lots of money for them, but they don't trust you to get there in the conveyance of your choosing. Ask if you can ride your motorcylce to the customer site.
  14. I recently went to paint the markings on the helipad we put in by the station. I took a square to try and do a good job. After placing the square on the corner of the slab, i gave up and put it away. Better not to know and hammer to fit, paint to match like the ones before me did.
  15. I just charged them the car mileage and enjoyed being home for dinner while the others sat in traffic. The way I saw it the boss who never could figure out why I could not pop over from Houston to San Antonio for a day (7-8 hours of driving) should not care that much. He lived in a Northern state where you can cross 3 states in 15 minutes. Texas is bigger. They not did ever say I could not take my motorcycle either. Nothing in the policy manual about not flying.
  16. Looks exactly like is what is on my 75 F model
  17. I have the pdf for the 74-76 F PM me your email address. I will send you a Google docs link
  18. still sounds like wiring. Would still check the grounds and such. All connections should be shiny bright. Try jumping the solenoid from battery hot to contact. in my parts spreadsheet I have this. here is some info: http://mooneyspace.com/topic/3437-spec-sheet-for-cutler-hammer-6041h231/ and if you can get your mechanic to agree it is a "standard part" (It has no TSO, PMA, or Milspec) and the 6041H105 meets or exceeds the original specs, then the 6041H105 may work. Master Relay eaton "6041h105" Oh look when I search the Eaton part number I find this. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/elpages/solenoid_6041H105.php?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwmrqzBhAoEiwAXVpgokHVB0I9c-9YozfNvSmlGTZJzP5fLZNCXGUuRe-E-QhAfqTq_vYQoBoClf4QAvD_BwE
  19. I tried all sorts of drains. Now I just go get all the old blue rags that I wipe bugs off and stuff them below it. Then just move fast. I let other people change my truck oil since it started looking like a murder scene after I was done.
  20. There really is no room for another alternator and to be redundant it would need a second belt, which would mean a double pulley on the crank shaft. Keep current on your battery tests with your electronics. If you have panel space consider adding an AV 30 to the panel. I am not secure in the lithium battery in the plane yet, but a SLA battery plugged into the cigarette lighter would power the avionics for awhile and be a lot cheaper.
  21. Master solenoids are constant duty for the mooney usually 200 amp. They would be a better starter solenoid than an intermittent duty starter ones. So not part of the problem. As far as "going out" Not sure how that is being determined. solenoids are pretty binary. So the battery could be getting weak or a ground is failing would be a better bet. as far as a replacement any starter solenoid should do. The originals were usually a Cutler and Hammer brand. At one point I found the Master solenoid for my 75 at McMaster Carr, but have not seen it recently. Oh look there is one on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/325655658606 There is no way I would buy the ebay one. But you might find the part number and cross reference to DgiKey and or McMaster Carr.
  22. I hooked up the flap and trim sensors using a 10K ohm slider for audio board. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07R3295X3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 This makes it kind of work. The problem is there is not enough voltage drop between up and down of the flaps and trim. The only place I could figure to do this was on the trimwheel under the plane and back at the flap actuator. So you have to run wire. I bought the "certified" ones off Aircraft Spruce, but the travel on them was not long enough The travel needs to be a little greater than the manual position indicators. I believe I could just add a resistor to the circuit to get a greater voltage drop, just have not tried it. In other news I found the way to edit the fuel tank level sensors and using the stock Mooney sensors the fuel levels are very accurate. But I still stick the tanks.
  23. This one gets my vote. This is also placard/Operating Instructions way to handle things. Seems on the flight over would be time to triple check the instructions. Or could have been as simple at the pilots normal place they moved the gear lever. Just happened to be the wrong way.
  24. It's not a boat. There really is no way to sling one without doing damage. I would build a platform for the wheels, then attach to that.
  25. just winch it up on the back of a roll back wrecker and put it at an angle. Some wide load signs and off you go.
