  1. Download and read the NOTAM carefully. There are a couple videos in YouTube showing the arrival procedure that are quite helpful as well.
  2. I intend to stop by and ask. I' ll post when I get back
  3. Me too! Flew to Hernando County Airpot (KCRG to KBKV) for a fishing trip in the gulf. As I write this my buddy is frying over 20 pounds of Dolphin fillets. Took him 4 hours to trail his boat here. Took me 55 minutes in beautiful severe clear weather to fly here in the Mooney. I do feel a bit guilty about that
  4. 776nm from Key West. Key West to Cancun is 353nm and could make for a nice fuel stop
  5. I fly with a panel mounted 496 and a yoke mounted iPad mini. I also have a regular IFR certified GPS. I love the yoke mounted mini, but will not discard the 496 anytime soon. It's a nice backup and has XM weather. I like to fly track up in the 496 while maintaining north up in the iPad. The combination suits me well and find it convenient for situational awareness.
  6. Your 3 blade prop has better ground clearance and improved climb performance over 2 blade prop. However, you loose some in cruise performance. Can you tell us the OEM for your 3 blade prop? Depending on what type you have there are additional pros/cons. I would not change your prop unless there is a compelling reason to do so, and the slight differences in performance is not a compelling reason.
  7. I and my 67C would be very interested if the price is reasonable
  8. I have not seen these inaccuracies either using geo-referenced plates in ForeFlight with iPad and external Bluetooth GPS. With the needles centered the iPad always has shown me straight down the localizer. Altitude is a different story and we all know the GPS is not going to display pressure altitude.
  9. Simple enough right? But it's a slippery slope!! Once you make this work on a temporary basis then why not make it permanent? In no time you will be talking user fees for all of us. It may sound like a good idea but the minute we agree to this there is no going back!
  10. Interesting! I use the app all the time but have never tried it at altitude. I always assumed I would not get a good enough cell connection. Will try it next time
  11. I have cam-locks and always remove the side covers. If I'm flying multiple legs in a day then only before first leg. I have a hanger and it really only takes me a few minutes. I put torque stripes on all the important hardware that can get loose and like to check it on the first leg of the day.
  12. My 67C has it as well
  13. Having same problem here.
  14. Why does it matter? Well let's see.....eroding democracy everywhere he can, aiding and consulting with every scum despot in the world, financing terrorist organizations throughout Latin America, turning Venezuela into another Cuba, etc, etc.
  15. War Eagles, Dogs, whatever.... Go Gators!!! class of 87 I guess I'll have to keep my Mooney away from Rob or it might get burned down accidentally, or not.
  16. Aerospace Engineer ( Naval Air Systems Command)
  17. The simpler solution to this icing problem is moving to FLORIDA! Problem solved.
  18. This thread inspired me this morning to go out and do a 4 way GPS run in my 67C. It has a few speed mods but not the 201 cowling or windshield (does have a one piece windshield). Climbed to 7500, WOT which yielded 23MP, 2400 RPM, leaned till it started running a little rough then enriched till smooth. OAT was 6 C. Average of 4 way GPS run was 146 (fuel flow 9.8). Repeated again but this time enriched mixture for best power. Average of 4 way GPS run was 148.5. (Fuel flow 10.6).
  19. 67C with most of the speed mods. I see 142 Kts between 7-9k, WOT, 2400 RPM, around 10 GPH
  20. As a new Mooney owner I've had to learn this lesson twice already. Both times I let the passenger close the door but failed to double check. The top lock has popped open in flight but have been able to close the door by slowing way down. I no longer allow anyone but me to close the door. This also saves me the trouble of having to explain why there is no need to slam the door close. Both times I did not notice any adverse flying response, just more noise.
  21. I have the 450 as well. Installed it a few months back. Working well and very accurate
  22. Nice video Oscar! Reminds of Nicaragua (spent some time there). Actually I've been all over Central America, except Guatemala. Keep the videos coming R, Hector
  23. Wow that sounds great. We vacation every year in Sugarloaf key for the mini lobster season. We have a "spot" that we go to every year. We picked 100 lobsters in 3 hours last year. We limited out. I learned to fly down in Tamiami airport so Marathon key was a frequent destination. I'm definitely up for a Marathon trip. Combine seafood and great flying, say no more.
  24. Tom, glad you are ok. Learn from this, and then back on the horse!
  25. I would not use RainX on acrylic plastic. It will probably work fine, but long-term use can lead to crazing (micro-cracking) of plastic.
