  1. You guys still up for Saturday lunch at Williston? Alex, I could come pick you up if you are still game Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Alex let us know what works for you. Saturday or Sunday might get a few more to join in, but if Friday is the day I'll fly directly from New Bern, NC to Williston. No sweat even for an old C. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. I can do Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. I think Alex works on Saturdays? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. Williston airport is special to me in a more profound way. It is very close to Gainesville, Florida. Home to the University of Florida where 30 years ago a young Aerospace Engineering student met this girl and convinced her to go on a date with him. Hoping to make a great impression he prepared a pick nick basket and flew her from Gainesville to Williston (in a very old 150 that was barely airworthy) where he taxied to the end of the runway near a large oak tree and had a great time. I guess it worked. 30 years later and two great kids. My daughter now also attending the University of Florida and she has been warned about accepting airplane rides from poor students in questionable airplanes. She may listen, but hope she doesn't. 5. I flew my Mooney to New Bern , NC this morning on a business trip. I will definitely be back by Friday but not sure I can make it Thursday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Alex, I think you have already contributed significantly. Your thread on buying and restoring an old Mooney has been read with great interest by everyone and continues to serve as a guide with many lessons for those that are contemplating the same. You have certainly shown everyone that with effort and perseverance Mooney ownership is possible and old birds can be brought back. I have seen others give up far too easily with fewer problems and have always refer them to your thread for inspiration. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. I'm in!!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. She's a beauty but two kids in college make it impossible [emoji3] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. I think my C has VERY similar performance. I climb at VY to 1000 AGL then 120 for the rest. Today here in Florida with OAT at 95 I was cruising with all cylinders below 360 (22/2400). However, I wish I could say the same for takeoff. 400-425 typical at VY but then 390-400 climbing at 120. 1400 hours on the engine with good compressions so maybe ok. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. That's an adventure. In my bucket list for sure Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. My Stratus 2 works great. I use it with the suction mount on the back window and it gets great reception and never overheats. The AHRS works very well and very usable in case of emergency. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. $300 in Jacksonville FL (KHEG) fir a very nice T hangar. Central Florida prices also very reasonable. Could not afford a hangar in South Florida Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. My C and I are both IFR rated and capable. Just had an IPC 2 weeks ago. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. If the prop was deformed in any way then it no longer makes a good airfoil and will produce significantly less or no thrust at all. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. I think Seth is telling you that arriving Wednesday there is a good chance that the field will have reached max capacity and there will be no more room to park. That was the case last year. I think it reached max capacity by Tuesday and they were turning people away. I do think, however, that by Wednesday some folks start leaving so they will open the field again as folks leave. Regardless, you need to be prepared for the possibility that you may not be able to get in. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Congrats Seth!! I'll be in Oshkosh but leaving Wednesday, but I'll see you at the Mooney summit. Great looking family. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. I was just down there a couple of weeks ago (KTMB). I was raised down there and my Mom still lives there so I fly to Miami regularly to check up on her. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. Yes, that was me. Helping another Mooneyspacer put new rubber (tires) in his Mooney. Went to Williston (X60) and shot a few practice landings. Today, the 4th of July, I celebrated Independence Day by braking the bonds of earth (it felt that way) and taking an Instrument competency check ride in the Mooney with a very good CFII. Learned something new so a good day. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. Beautiful, and a great year for the F model Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. Yvesg, I'm flying in Sunday but not in my Mooney. Helping my brother in law achieve his dream of flying his Cherokee 6 to Oshkosh from Central Florida. I'll be in Key West that week but the plan is for me to fly the Mooney from Key West to Lakeland, put my plane in his hanger and fly the Cherokee to Oshkosh. It's going to be a long day of flying. I hope to make the Monday gathering. Put me down for two Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  21. I posted fees in Foreflight and after a day or two they show up. I don't rant about the fee, just state the facts so the next guy can determine if the fee is appropriate or not. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  22. Yeah but that's metres, that's like a lot of feet right? [emoji23] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. Mike I said that half jokingly but it would be an interesting experiment. I would like to think that all of us that fly would be honest and pay for the fuel we take. I think that is true for the most part, but there is always the exception, and unfortunately, rules are often put in place because of the exceptions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Honor system! I'm impressed! Is that just your local airport or is that common practice in the U.K.? That would last about one day at my airport which is about how long it would take for all the fuel to disappear. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Alex, You need to get something like a used riding lawn mower (that someone has discarded of course) and use it to tow your plane. Regardless, I hereby nominate you as president of the CB club[emoji3] Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
