Does that happen very often? I had the impression in US you are required to have VOR checks and the magnetic variation at VOR station is freezed. So the bias between GPS Track-To-Fix (TF leg) and VOR Course-To-Fix (CF leg) is very minimal In any case, you legally required to carry VOR if the plate require it for final segment (FAS leg) and monitor VOR guidance on final segment to stay within the protected area (or go-missed which can be done using GPS RNAV1, or on magnetic vector or heading to altitude) How you display, fiddle with buttons, or how you hook auto-pilot is largely irrelevant? especially, in Part91 where you are the only person in the cockpit These days digital autopilots use "GPS-aiding" to intercept VLOC for pure conventional VOR, LOC and ILS. So I can't see why pilot can do this on raw data while handflying? I recall GFC500 can't fly conventionel ILS with coupled glide when GPS is jammed, no LPV, well no ILS for you time to go back to heading and vertical speed modes

That’s why I add a 1/2 qt before my oil change preflight, but I still don’t want it in my fuel tanks.

Just remembered that one guy I knew was using it in the fuel only added it just prior to a long XC. He said that way he got all the the benifits of cleaning things out in the fuel system without having any left over when the plane was just sitting.

Run the GAMI test at the RPM you intend to operate. Everything about an engine cares about the RPM, not as much the manifold pressure. Runner lengths, cam, ports, etc- are all tuned to resonate and work together at a certain engine speed. Where manifold pressure does come into effect is the change of speed of sound- but it's so minor in an intercooled setup. Long story short, yes it would be ideal to tune at the exact right combination, or *gasp* have electronic fuel injection... But all other compromises in mind, I would recommend running your gami test at the RPM you intend to fly at and slightly lower manifold pressure to get under 65%- if you're worried about it. I've been designing intake manifolds and tuning modern EFI for a bit over 20 years- that's what I would do.

So would you recommend KTDW over H81? It looks like KTDW is closer to town.

Just to be clear, the screenshot you posted is from the Pilot's Guide, not the AFMS. Two different documents with different legal status. There is a lot of understandable confusion about this. The voluminous "Pilot's Guide" may be nice to have with you, but it's not legally required in the airplane, and nothing it contains is regulatory. In contrast, the pamphlet-like Airplane Flight Manual Supplement (AFMS) is required to be in the aircraft, and anything found in its LIMITATIONS section is binding from a regulatory standpoint. The AFMS is not only serial-number specific, it is also software revision specific - you're supposed to get a new one with each software upgrade. I've been invited into several clients' airplanes in which the required AFMS is nowhere to be found. Sometimes the installation shop didn't provide it. But in other cases the owner is just confused - they put the not-required Pilot's Guide in the cockpit while filing away the required AFMS along with their invoice, warranty paperwork, and so forth. Here's a screenshot of the first page of a "generic" GTN650 AFMS, awaiting the make/model/registration/serial number info to be filled in. If you don't have this in your airplane with your Garmin navigator (GNS, GTN, etc.), you're failing the "weight of paperwork must equal weight of airplane" rule.

Based on the G100UL fuel leak thread what's your position?

I noticed the people that liked your post are people who have personally attacked me both here and other threads. kettle? mooneyspace has a reputation for being unfriendly. In fact, my very first post here when I was initially interested in a Mooney and I didn’t fit comfortably, someone told me it was because I was fat and needed to lose weight (I’m north of 240 and it’s most definitely NOT fat) nah. people leave because know noting circle talk. -

it’s the case that he bought swamp land? They aren’t the same product. One is an agreement allowing you to use a fuel, which nobody has prevented, and the other is the fuel itself - which it’s suggested he never used. ask ANY attorney. It’s really that simple. -
While I've heard good things about stays at KAMA, I always go to Tradewind, KTDW. It's closer to downtown, and the current self-serve fuel price is considerably cheaper than Signature full service at KAMA. Haven't stayed overnight in a while, but I was there for fuel stops twice earlier this year. Good service from Tradewind FBO, comfortable pilot's lounge, and a good lunch at the airport cafe, Shelby's.

If you have balance weights, it does matter. When I R&R a prop, I put som sharpie marks on them when I take them off so they go on the same way.

I was there a month ago and stopped at H81. They were wonderful. Let me use a courtesy car to get some lunch.

Wow. By 1970, the MP / Fuel Pressure gage in my C was a mirror image! Flipped left to right AND top to bottom. Sorry for the faded appearance, the sun was right out the windshield. -
I will be flying to Amarillo KAMA next week for business. Anything I should know? Looks like Signature is the only option for an FBO…..Would H81 be a better option than KAMA?

Myrtle is a 1982 model. When I purchased her 5 years ago she was equipped like yours with the fixed waste gate and no intercooler. Since I purchased her, I added the Merlyn Black Magic and a TurboPlus intercooler. These two enhancements are very useful and worthwhile in my opinion. The Merlyn takes care of the bootstrapping issue but you will still need to monitor and adjust the manifold pressure during climbs and descents. I fly pretty conservative numbers in order to take care my engine. I always fly LOP which still gets me 170 KTAS at 17,000’ while burning 10.2 GPH of fuel. Learn to fly the numbers for your airplane and it will make life much easier, especially flying IFR. The easiest way to learn to fly the numbers is to attend a MAPA class.

These publishers are killing their own product. I’ve canceled more subscriptions recently, can’t think of any flying mag I still have aside from water flying, and sadly that’s more advertisements than content it seems No one is going to subscribe to read AI influencer style crap, I make it like a sentence or two and I can detect it like raw chicken and I have the same reaction -

It 100% is the case lol And the fuel and the STC are all the same maker, same “kit”. -

Well, finally painted and installed, extremely happy with the results...going to do the back vents next to blow air forward...very low profile considering, got a buddy at work to print them up based on the file I received on this page then bought the vents off of ebay...
