romair Posted August 10, 2013 Report Posted August 10, 2013 I'm trying to get a MVP-50P configured, and I ran into a couple of questions that I could not figure out - maybe you guys know the answer! Fuel Pressure Configuration: 1. Fuel Pressure monitored at the Fuel Pump OR 2. Metered Fuel Pressure monitored at the Flow Divider. Amps: 1. Is the Amps a measurement of the Alternator output current, or the Battery current? Fuel Level Sensors: Are the sensors resistive or capacitive? Thank-you Stefan 1989 M20J
Marauder Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 Have you looked at the installation manual? http://www.buy-ei.com/Information/II%20-%20MVP-50.pdf
Marauder Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 Section 2.7 part D talks about the FP location. I suspect there are specific requirements where these need to be connected to in order for it to meet the approval for replacement of your current factory installed gauges.
Marauder Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 I believe on my EI FP-5, the FP is taken from somewhere after the boost pump and the engine pump. My FP shows up on my gauge when I turn on the boost pump.
Marauder Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 For amps, it says it is measured at the shunt. Sounds like for it to be primary, it will be alternator load? Hopefully one of the APs who come here can comment.
N601RX Posted August 12, 2013 Report Posted August 12, 2013 On my F the shunt is measuring the battery current. The factory senders are resistive Fuel pressure is at the inlet of the servo, which is the same as the outlet of the engine driven pump.

Thank-you Stefan 1989 M20J If you use the original factory shunt or install EI's shunt in the factory location you will be reading the alternators load, fuel pressure is read from the divider (just like the factory gauge), and the fuel senders are resistant type unless you upgrade to EIs magnetic pick up type probe. personally I recommend the upgrade, it eliminates a lot of the jumpiness and is more accurate through the complete scale. I just installed the MVP-50 in my plane, I love it and have already added a few of the additional features such as airspeed, landing gear and some switch indications. I am looking at different rheostat set ups to enable the flaps and trim indications. if you want more info on the system you can PM me. Brian
