PilotDerek Posted November 28, 2012 Report Posted November 28, 2012 Well, 29 Palms will no longer have fuel available. I know ther are a few on this site that use it as a refuelling stop in their travels. I plan on putting a coment on AOPA's airport site as well to try and inform everyone who uses the airport. It is sad because the only reason anyone even stopped at this airport was for fuel. Anyone else out there at an airport that does not have fuel? Do you keep a couple 5 gallon jugs of avgas just in case? That is my plan. It's at least a 30 min flight to the next airport with fuel. I think this is the beginning of the end for this airport.
rbridges Posted November 28, 2012 Report Posted November 28, 2012 was it their call, or did their supply dry up?
PilotDerek Posted November 28, 2012 Author Report Posted November 28, 2012 The company that ran the fueled ended their contract. The county has been unable to find another company to provide fuel.
wishboneash Posted November 28, 2012 Report Posted November 28, 2012 Not related to this airport, but Furnace Creek (L06) in Death Valley does not have a landline connection to the Furnace Creek resorts. Some mobile phones may not have coverage either, so plan accordingly or arrange before hand for a pick up. One can walk out of course, but it could be inconvenient for some in the heat.
