Kwixdraw Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 What's the current scoop on gear actuators and the manual extention clutch springs and gears? The Eaton one ar3e what I'm asking about in case there is something newer. MOA was making a big flap about these some time back.
MooneyMitch Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 In speaking with some prominent MSC owner's, I've received the following general comments on the "no back spring" issue. One comment was that the actuator will let you know when something is not right prior to the spring breaking. Another comment was that after replacing a perfectly good spring for the 1000 hour requirement, the new spring failed and caused a gear up landing. Definitely makes one wonder!
Kwixdraw Posted December 17, 2009 Author Report Posted December 17, 2009 Thanks gents. My aircraft was on a leaseback before we went inactive and the actuator was serviced and yellow tagged by Eaton maybe 150 hours ago so I guess I'm in good shape.
MooneyMitch Posted December 17, 2009 Report Posted December 17, 2009 Cliff, I would think that with the yellow tag there should be some mention that SB-282 has been complied with. Sounds like you're good to go though.
Kwixdraw Posted December 17, 2009 Author Report Posted December 17, 2009 It don't think the SB was issued when the unit was serviced . I suppose then I would have to have it checked again to be in compliance.
