Hello All,

I am currently a Sport Pilot and built and flew an experimental (Sonex) taildragger for 260 hours. I was looking for more range and capacity without sacrificing any speed so I picked up a 64 C model about a month ago and am working towards my PPL in the Mooney

I love the way the plane handles and am enjoying my transition training. I project a check ride within about a month.

I looked forward to learning from the rest of you.

Howdy, Bob in Dallas TX.

First of all, I am always impressed with anyone that builds their own aircraft!  Talent and patience and knowledge for that....awesome!

Second, welcome to the Mooney world.  Your plane sounds just terrific with lots of cool stuff.  Smile

Please join us at the MAPA Convention http://www.mooneypilots.com/ in Fredricksburg, TX, Sept 13-16.  You'll love meeting so many Mooney lovers!

Welcome to MooneySpace, Bob. Very slick panel!

260 taildragger hours sets you up well for a Mooney based PPL. Good luck!

Welcome Bob!

Good choice on the magic mile munching Mooney money mizer! You are flying the best value in all of the certified GA world IMO. The C is the best bang for the buck out there IMO.

Yeah, I don't that's a very good panel for you as a new private pilot, but I'll tell you what................I'm willing to swap panels with you straight up!!!  My older.......I mean simpler panel will be better suited for your needs. Also swapping panels with me will lead to lower taxes, lower deficits and will create jobs. ;)

OK, so I'm a little jealous of your panel.  I love my C and I'm sure you will to. With that panel, I hope you go on to get your IFR ticket as well. Keep the pics coming.

Any questions feel free to post them, power setting and lean procedure questions you may wish to PM me.

Thanks Dean,

Let me consider your panel swap offer...ummm maybe no :) I chose this IFR equipped plane with the intention of an IFR ticket I just need to get that PPL first. I also appreciate your offer for information and advice.

Thanks for the pictures! I always loved the look of the curved windows with the 201 windshield. Looks good and clean.

Nice plane!  I always liked the windo wconfiguration of the '64, and the short body Mooneys are great handling planes.  Yours looks to be in excellent condition.  It should be an excellent plane for earning your instrument ticket (I earned mine in a '67 C ... )

The best advice I ever got is to "get your instrument rating in the plane you will fly, not in another plane with different handling characteristics."  If you are going to fly a Mooney, you are smart not to earn your rating in  C or P brand.  When you are in real IMC, you should be in a plane you know.

Congratulations on an excellent purchase!
