Bigdaddie Posted Sunday at 11:07 AM Report Posted Sunday at 11:07 AM (edited) I've got a new 3D printer (actually 2 of them, long story). I'd be interested in anyone with M20K printed part files they would like to share. I'd really like a cup holder/storage for the center near the heat outlet. Edited Sunday at 11:08 AM by Bigdaddie

If you search "foldable cup holder" on Amazon you'll find the ones that most people use for their Mooneys. 3M Dual Lock Tape (not velcro) works well to hold then on the center console without having to use screws. 1
Yetti Posted Sunday at 09:21 PM Report Posted Sunday at 09:21 PM The stick on pop out cup holders are nice. I have one of these in front of my seat on the floor. Could have one in front of the passenger seat also. I think a pen holder would be a good project. Also a 3" square to round hole instrument adaptor
IntoTheVhoid Posted Monday at 04:45 AM Report Posted Monday at 04:45 AM I'm also getting into 3D printing. It's a fun hobby. I'm finding relevant and/or good quality aviation/Mooney related .stl files are hard to come by, so if I get a bright idea I design my own in Fusion. (Note: Steep learning curve if you don't have a background in 3D design. Tinkercad is a good place to start, but is limiting with respect to what you can produce). I'll share anything I design if I think it's worthy of your time and filament/resin! I'm sure you're onto it, but if not, Yeggi.com is a clunky search engine for a number of repositories of .stl files (Thingiverse.com, Cults3d.com, Printables.com, etc). You can try searching for what you want there, or directly in Thingiverse. Here are some things I've found on the web that I guess are more or less ready to print. I've not tried printing them but will return here with photos and a report if I do. Delta Zulu controller mount and headset hook (controller holders for lots of other headset models can be found) Pitot tube and fuel vent cap mount/holder for Ovation rear shelf (I wonder if the maker is on Mooneyspace?) Wheel Chocks w/ Customizable Lettering There'll be a ton of cup holders to trawl through to find one that's right or you can modify to be right. Please share a link if you find one! What printer are you using?
varlajo Posted Monday at 05:24 AM Report Posted Monday at 05:24 AM Whatever you do, don't print air ducts..
Flyler Posted Monday at 05:00 PM Report Posted Monday at 05:00 PM I'm not sure if your Mooney has rear seat recline handles, but there's this factory looking one: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3074623 I didn't really make a "remix" as I didn't use the model, but I posted mine as a remix so I wouldn't steal anyones thunder: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6830500 1

What printer are you using? If I produce something useful, I'll post it also. I’ve messed around with AI and Tinkercad to produce a few knick-knacks. I downloaded Fusion360 but I probably will stick with Tinkercad at least for now. I’m too selfish with my time right now to give Fusion a fair chance of success. I fly for Delta but am off on medical leave right now. When I go back to work, I’ll have lots of time on layovers to give Fusion a shot. So, here’s my printer story. I have 2 Anycubic Kobra S1s, one with 4 spool AMS. I bought one from Anycubic “refurbished.” It had a broken back guide mount (the part the jackscrew travels through) and the printhead temperature would run away when powered on. Anycubic offered to send the parts but there was a more than 2 week wait. They then offered to replace the printer with another refurbished one, which I took. They then said due to high shipping costs, just keep the other printer. The second printer has a couple of small issues but overall prints great. If I had a working 3D printer at the time, I would have printed the guide (do you know what they call these?) with carbon. So out came the JB Weld and it seems good so far. I found the hotend controller at Aliexpress for about $30. Waiting on that part. I’m so impressed with the Anycubic that I pre-ordered the S1 Max. Now I must rid myself of some accumulation to make room for all these printers. Happy printing.

Someone, somewhere, in a place far far away...well you know…had made a storage organizer and cup holder that went right in front of the heat outlet on the floor at the bottom of the center console. It had a passthrough for the heat outlet. Since I didn’t have a 3D printer at the time, I didn’t download it.

Flyler Posted Monday at 09:20 PM Report Posted Monday at 09:20 PM @Bigdaddie how do you envision the cup holder looking? I have an M20J which has the heater outlet and fuel selector valve as shown in Lancecasper's picture. If you can draw a pencil sketch, maybe I can whip something up.

The printers are a little more expensive, but the out of box experience is far superior. Very user-friendly. One thing I like about the Bambu is that I can be at Home Depot and send something to the printer...

I couldn't resist price even though it was refurbished. I got the Kobra S1 and AMS system for $295. Their support has been awesome. The problem is this is a newish printer so parts can be hard to find.
Pinecone Posted 17 hours ago Report Posted 17 hours ago I got one from here on MS and also posted it at some point. It fits the 252. Two cup holders and a slot so it will fit a phone or tablet.
00-Negative Posted 16 hours ago Report Posted 16 hours ago I went with a Qidi Plus 4 which I can't believe hasn't become a bigger player in the market. Their design is much like Bambu in the sense that it is a true plug-n-play. I went with this device over the Bambu because the enclosed chamber and bed temps get hotter which allows for printing in ABS and ASA. ABS is what our side panels are made from. Prior to my Qidi purchase, I had zero experience with 3d printing and have had no problems printing what I want. I also bought a used Creality Raptor 3d scanner and have scanned parts and sent to my Qidi successfully. -David
