Peter T Posted October 25 Report Posted October 25 The lights on the screen are very dim. When I shine my flashlight on the photo cell, they brighten up somewhat, but don’t stay bright. Hoping for a simple fix.
ArtVandelay Posted October 25 Report Posted October 25 Did you check your dimmer (there’s 2, one for glare shield lights, other for panel…newer avionics ignore this and internally set brightness with adjustment from its photocell. Not sure where 150 falls.
Slick Nick Posted October 25 Report Posted October 25 The KAP 150 has inputs for dimmable 28V, 14V or 5V lighting that takes care of the push buttons, display, etc. make sure that you panel lights are working properly and that they aren’t selected on by mistake.

Not sure where 150 falls. I played with the dimmer switches. They did not seem to affect the 150. The display on the 150 does brighten up some, when I shine a flashlight on its photo cell, but dims down to almost nothing when I left alone

The panel lights do work properly and are left off during daylight flights
Pinecone Posted October 27 Report Posted October 27 IT can be the photo cell. I had the issue with the 297 altitude select. I think had an avionics shop replace the photo cell. IIRC it was Sarasota Avionics, the one at Sarasota.
