denbmd Posted March 15 Report Posted March 15 Am looking to fabricate a new panel facade for my '74 m20c. Any chance someone has cad drawing for later model m20c's? Already mistakenly purchased the older m20c cad drawings from SPLaser.ca, and they don't show drawings for my model. M20F looks close but still a bit off. I am not seeing anything in the mooneyspace files or images. Also, has anyone ever replaced the panel cover with G5's in place? Do the G5s make the replacement a AP only job? thanks Quote
Aaviationist Posted March 15 Report Posted March 15 … not sure what you’re trying to do exactly but replacing the panel is always an A&P job. All the instruments need to come out as well. Quote

All the instruments need to come out as well. M20-C has a decorative.plastic overlay.on top of the panel. With that overlay removed (many are broken), the panel looks like this. Note the intact plastic overlay on the right side. My left overlay is in three pieces, having been broken and "repaired" by previous owners. It failed during pitot Static testing when replacing the altimeter, such that I can't really tell what angle the parts are supposed to fit together. (There are left, right amd bottom pieces.) I'd also love a file for this overlay. A nice person sent me a tracing of theirs complete with Aspen installed. So I'm trying to figure out making a good one-piece panel overlay for my side, with no measurements, and just looking at my "WWII combat damage" panel in the meantime. Quote

Did you check to see if Plane Plastics had one in stock? That's where I bought mine. Lots of fitting and trimming and light mounting but it looks fine. Quote
7.Mooney.Driver.0 Posted March 15 Report Posted March 15 You can buy a new panel for $156https://vantageassoc.com/lh-instr-panel-airplanes-mooney-m20-1955-m20-1002-thru-1200-k820244-005.htmlSent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote
Aaviationist Posted March 15 Report Posted March 15 Oh yeah, you’re right. The old “wood “ overlay. It’s been a minute since I’ve seen anything with that still in place. Quote

Mine is lightly textured black plastic. As seen on the right panel. I will look into the offerings above, but would still enjoy a dimensioned drawing or CAD file of the panel, since the hole spacing is the same for the overlay. Quote
