N201MKTurbo Posted September 11 Report Posted September 11 Back in the spring of 2001 I was looking at aviation stuff on EBay and saw someone selling some airline stuff, so I bid on it and won. I saw the seller was local so I messaged him and asked if I could just pick the stuff up from him. He said sure and told me to meet him at a parking space at an apartment complex in Scottsdale. I figured he lived there, but when he showed up it didn’t seem like actually lived there. He was Arab and was driving a 280ZX. I asked him about his flight training and how many hours he had. His answers were bizarre. The items I got from him were a 737 POH, 767 description book that is quite complete and a CD rom with a United Airlines 767 FMS trainer. I can’t find the CD. I’m 99% sure he was one of the terrorists. So I met one of them . I never told the feds about this stuff. I should have. I haven’t thought about this stuff for a long time. But here it is. 1 Quote
N204TA Posted September 11 Report Posted September 11 I took my ATP check ride at IWA not long after 9/11. The DPE was a bitter old guy who really seemed to hate me because I was with the FAA. I later learned that he had recently been grilled for giving one of the terrorists his Private Pilot ride. I wonder if that was the same guy you dealt with. Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted September 12 Author Report Posted September 12 Perhaps, I talked to my AME who gave the terrorist his physical. He said they were at his office for three days going through all his stuff. They took boxes of his records. He said they were not friendly about it either. That's one of the reasons I hesitated to tell them about it. I looked through my records and emails and couldn't find anything about the EBay transaction and I couldn't exactly remember what he looked like. We met in the dark. Besides, reading the papers, it seemed like they knew everything about the guy already. Quote

Chilling story. Was it Hani Hanjour by any chance? He was the only one of the 4 pilot-trained hijackers who trained in AZ. He flew AA77 a 757-200 into the pentagon. He also had 737 sim time. Or it might have been an accomplice or associate of his who is still alive and potentially traceable, so it may still be worth reporting formally. Quote
