So I just ordered a fuselage cover for my 03 Ovation.  I ordered it from Mac's Covers. Half the cost of Bruce. Have not tried the fit but the fabric and workmanship seem really good. Will report further.

I’ve used one on a Cherokee and was very happy with it.

I have an insulated cowl cover for winter.  Not bad.  But not the easiest website to find things and NO communications from order.  It just showed up.

The poor website meant I did not realize I could have had a oil door flap, but oh well.

Seems well made and does the job.  And as stated, a lot cheaper than Bruce

10 years ago, I went MACs' cheaper of two fabrics options, which still looks like it is <$300 on their website. It fits well, provides good protection, and has held up just fine.  It probably gets used 30-40 days/year when the plane is not sheltered in my hangar.  For this purpose, I'd say it's an excellent product.  If my plane spent more time outside, I might be more extravagant with the cover.

Yep, exactly my mind set. The plane is hangered except when we're gone.Which like you said , is less than fifty days a year. Haven't tried it on yet, but they had me send some very detailed pictures with measurments So i'm expecting it to be nice

Purchased Mac’s cabin cover and cowl plugs. Decent quality for a travel weight cover. Brucecover was better made with cabin door entry, but much heavier in weight. Price point is just right

I have a Mac's cover, and it seems to work well. The only negative is that my side windows have some slight etching now from it as the soft covering doesn't extend past the windscreen.

I purchased a cover last month for a trip to Western WA where I knew it would sit out in the hot sun. I actually found the service great, Kathy got back to me within a day and managed to get me the cover before I left (quick service and very considerate considering they were going on vacation, too).

Price was very good, perfect for me esp. only using a cover intermittently. Quality seems very good, I was pleasantly surprised. Value for the money is hard to beat in the aviation space. I inherited the Bruce's cowl plugs (excellent!) and pitot cover. I might try Mac's for other parts in the future, and won't hesitate to use them if I need wing covers at some point.

I had not noticed any marking of the side windows, but will watch for it.  You might be able to get them to add a soft inside layer going further back. It works well for the windshield. In fact, it sounds like there might be some other unadveristed options (someone mentioned an oil door flap, which might be nice if you use it a lot).

HTH,

David

So I went ahead and ordered the cover.  $300 less than Bruce's. Nice quality and many colors.  Fits great and 3 tie down straps. Would definitely recommend.

Just for nights on the road, not a hangar replacement.

If the airplane was to be tied outside for 6 months, would you then look at Bruce instead of Macs?

One thing to watch for, keep it as tight as possible when it’s on.  Tight.  It looks like good quality, but my bruces has zero wrinkles when on and doesn’t move in the wind at all.  You don’t want it slowly rubbing.

Thank you for pointing that out. Where I live, it is often gusty and very windy. Mine will have to unfortunately sit outside while I find/build a hangar. It would suck to mess up the paint with a loose cover flapping away at it.

Exactly.  I am sometimes overly anal (or anxious?) but I’ve been known to wash my windscreen after a trip before putting on the cover if the airplane is to be left outside.  I don’t want the cover rubbing in those bugs!
