mrjones30 Posted April 27, 2012 Report Posted April 27, 2012 Hello, I just wanted to know are there any books and/or websites out there that give you detailed information about the Mooney, (Technical Specs instrument panel, parts..etc) similar to a car owners manual/maintenance book. I'm a tech person at heart and I like specs. Thank you! Quote
Jeff_S Posted April 27, 2012 Report Posted April 27, 2012 There aren't too many books that I'm aware of. There's a book about the Al Mooney story that provides some good background on his history, but not a lot of specs like you're talking about. Here's a site I used to help me fully understand the Mooney line-up and it has some specs: http://www.pilotfriend.com/aircraft%20performance/Mooney/mooney.htm If you subscribe to Aviaition Consumer magazine, you can search their website for any feature articles they've done on Mooney models. They used to sell a DVD that had all their used aircraft guides on one disk, so that could be an option if you don't want to subscribe to the magazine. Quote
DaV8or Posted April 27, 2012 Report Posted April 27, 2012 Not too many tech books. The factory service manuals and the Lycoming manuals are pretty poor as well compared to the car world. There is an OK Mooney history book called Those Remarkable Mooneys by Larry Ball. A quick read with some interesting background. Not a complete history because it doesn't come up to the current date. Most of the technical info is here on the web. Quote
jlunseth Posted April 27, 2012 Report Posted April 27, 2012 You can order and buy a POH for a J. Don't know what other models have a generally available POH for sale, but it sounds like that is what you are looking for. It will have speeds, loads, some stuff about instrumentation and panel, although most J's have probably had at least some amount of aftermarket panel work done by now. I know the FBO I keep my plane at, Thunderbird, had a J POH for sale back a year or two ago when they had a J in their fleet. A few people have put their AFM for their airplane on a website, you would have to search a little to find one, but that would be cheaper than buying. Here is one I think: http://www.deltaaviationllc.com/Nav%20Page/POH/M20J%20POH3203B.pdf Quote

fantom Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 Do yourself a favor and get a copy of Plane Sense, a 2008 FAA publication. You can download it from their website, but it's over a hundred pages. Quote
kerry Posted April 29, 2012 Report Posted April 29, 2012 I have a service and maintenance manual for my m20a. It's 70 pages. Has quite a bit of info from electrical to rigging systems. Quote
