Patrick Bolte Posted June 26, 2023 Report Posted June 26, 2023 We own a '67 M20F and apparently our roof top air scoop blew off last time I flew. It was there during my preflight, but no where to be found upon landing. Any suggestions or recommendations on getting a replacement and is it something that someone with reasonable mechanical skills could replace on their own? Thanks for the input. Quote
Mcstealth Posted June 26, 2023 Report Posted June 26, 2023 Maybe @AH-1 Cobra Pilot can model one? Quote
AH-1 Cobra Pilot Posted June 26, 2023 Report Posted June 26, 2023 The best bet would be to find one, then take it to someone who has a scanner. Then it would be easy to print, but would still require some iteration to get exactly right. It is also a little known fact that most 3-D prints are not water tight, and one built this way might leak. 1 Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted June 26, 2023 Report Posted June 26, 2023 I would talk to one of our recyclers and see if you can get a pre-flown door. 1 Quote
McMooney Posted June 26, 2023 Report Posted June 26, 2023 should be able to get one from almost any wrecked c,d,e,f,g. looking at the thing i have no clue as to how it keeps water out, no seal and seems to be filled with fiberglass/straw Quote

KSMooniac Posted June 26, 2023 Report Posted June 26, 2023 Rich is correct. The plenum is sealed to the cabin roof skin, and in the back there is an aluminum drain tube that exits through the belly along the back of the baggage compartment wall. Patrick, I have a scoop removed from my '77 J that might work for you. Take a look here: and let me know if you'd like it. I have sold the bundle of parts but haven't been paid or shipped yet. I asked the buyer if he would mind letting the scoop go for someone with an urgent need and he agreed. 1 Quote

Jim Peace Posted June 28, 2023 Report Posted June 28, 2023 anyone know a quick fix for the screen that is below the scoop? Quote
AdamJD Posted July 1, 2023 Report Posted July 1, 2023 Patrick - did you find one? I have one off of my F but it has a broken hinge, which is why I bought one from salvage. Wasn't cheap - about $230 - from Dawson Aircraft. Quote
KSMooniac Posted July 1, 2023 Report Posted July 1, 2023 He got my old one intact for way less than that! Sent from my LM-V600 using Tapatalk 1 1 Quote
