Welcome aboard RMM.

We are currently in a sellers market… :)

The number of available planes is very limited…

Find the planes for sale area and see what is available…

Hold off on discussing the price until it’s negotiation time…

Have you seen the prices for M20Cs and M20Es lately?

Your idea of reasonable, may not match what other people think is reasonable….

Go Mooney!

Best regards,

-a-

Just looking for my first plane M20E I don't want a carbureted version but I'm willing to buy M20C if the price is right.

Nothing wrong with a carburetor.  Lot less expensive and relatively trouble free compared to a set of fuel injectors and a fuel servo.   The carb on a Lycoming is bolted to the oil pan.  Doesn't often make ice in my experience.

There is a 1966 M20E in Eldorado Kansas for sale on FB Market Place.  I believe he is asking $70K.  Basic steam gauges, no cowl closure, no oil cooler relocate, etc... pretty much stock plane with average paint.  I didn't see the engine details.

looking at the logbooks on this one and it's only gotten flown 20-30h a year for many years, seems like it may be a point of concern?

Pretty sure it was here that I read about someone getting a free M20E.  When he got through fixing a few squawks, he had $85,000 in it.

you will either pay a good amount of $$ at the time of purchase to get a fly now plane or pay later with extensive downtime and dealing with mechanics who claim they know what they are doing with an uncountable back and forth to the shops to fix and re-fix.  Either way you will pay $$.....

unless you dont care that your friends and family fly in a POS....

The short supply and high demand has dredged up many airplanes (not just Mooneys) that a few years ago would have been a real challenge to sell. Buyer beware. The nicest one available (meaning premium priced one) is many times the least expensive in the long run.
