MironV Posted July 11, 2022 Report Posted July 11, 2022 We're in the middle of a big avionics upgrade to GI-275s. Our Century 2000 AP is connected to the GI-275s. AP was working fine on a ground run and the electric trim worked in flight. But as we landed, we smelled a burning smell and then the electric trim stopped working. We took the panel apart to see if any wiring got messed up but there is nothing indicating the wiring was the source of the smell, even after 2h of searching. The AP works fine in pitch and roll, but the trim switch doesn't work at all. The electric trim switch and all CBs look fine. Any ideas on what it could be? Our working hypothesis is that something within the Century 2000 unit burned out. Quote
Jake@BevanAviation Posted July 11, 2022 Report Posted July 11, 2022 Trim boards are inside the C2000 flight computer. If you remove the flight computer, take the top cover off and the trim board is the top left board. Look and see if you find any visible damage to the board. It is not uncommon to see the drive transistors go bad and burn the motherboard. 2 Quote
Sense Posted July 26, 2022 Report Posted July 26, 2022 Had the identical problem with my Century 2000. As suggested, avionics looked inside of flight computer and lower right section of my electric trim board was fried. Will attempt to repair board. Quote
Mac80 Posted August 1, 2022 Report Posted August 1, 2022 Mine had trim board shorted too. May have been because of bad trim switch which was malfunctioning too. Quote
