PprophetBirdman Posted June 13, 2022 Report Posted June 13, 2022 My oxygen bottle has timed out and needs replacement and the regulator overhauled. Are there any maintenance locations I can fly into for this? I’m located in KY. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Are there any maintenance locations I can fly into for this? I’m located in KY. Why does it need to have the regulator overhauled? It should have the boss seal replaced when the bottle is replaced, but if someone is telling you to have the regulator replaced without looking at it, it doesn't necessarily have to be overhauled. If the regulator doesn't leak I wouldn't do it. https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pspages/cylinderaerox2.php?clickkey=9053869 You need either the -3 or -4 depending on which size you had to begin with. Any shop that works on Mooneys that has had experience changing these out should be fine. I would ask though if they've had experience. 1 Quote
Marc_B Posted June 13, 2022 Report Posted June 13, 2022 https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/pspages/cylinderaerox2.php I've got a Kevlar composite wrapped aluminum cylinder. Half the weight, but unfortunately it's 15 year vs 24 year service life...of course it's 5 year hydro testing (vs Q 3 years for steel cylinders). Guess it depends on what's most beneficial with your calculations... Quote
PprophetBirdman Posted June 13, 2022 Author Report Posted June 13, 2022 Yes, I have the Composite bottle 115.7 cu ft capacity. The bottle hasn’t been hydro tested in 15+ years. I believe it’s a DOT reg to have the regulator overhauled at tank replacement. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

I have never had the Mooney Factory or a Service Center send my regulator out at tank replacement. In my case it hasn’t even been suggested. If it had been chasing leaks unsuccessfully I could see where that might be wise. Quote
