Since I own my share of a M20K/1980 I see this mess:

There is always spray of oil or fuel obviously coming out of the Turbocharger door.

I removed already the cowling but did not see an oil leak except  for the rocker covers. We also see almost NO oil consumption.

The hray dirt is also thinner than oil, so I am not sure if it is oil or fuel.

But why? The same mess is on the front gear doors, mainly on the right side, less on the left

Any ideas? I am a bit surprised. On out airfield there are a couple of M20K models living, but I havenÄt seen this on any other airplanes.

I would sure get that checked before the next time you fly. As an example if there is something caught in your quick drain and it’s leaking it’s could dump all of your oil in flight in just a few minutes. @jlunseth is familiar with that.

If it was fuel…

a clean cloth used to wipe it will reveal some blue color…

The blue pigment is extra challenging to remove without a proper solvent…

Oil cleans up easier with various soap type cleaners….

Either way…

having that much color leak past the access door is not normal.

Expect Something is dripping under the cowl somewhere…

PP thoughts only, not A mechanic…
