pchansen Posted May 7, 2022 Report Posted May 7, 2022 Hi there. First time post here and am in the market for a long body Mooney. I’m a rather tall person at 6’5” and 270 so you can see my concern. I actually instructed in 201’s back in the early 90’s but that’s basically the last time I’ve sat in a Mooney. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! Paul Camas, WA Quote
carusoam Posted May 8, 2022 Report Posted May 8, 2022 Welcome aboard Paul! Long Body Mooneys have the most Space… Find the GMax site to see what is available this week… Jimmy said he had some coming in… Best regards, -a- Quote
pchansen Posted May 9, 2022 Author Report Posted May 9, 2022 Thanks for the heads up! I’ll look them up. Much appreciated. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk There are a couple of choices… 1) Get new budget…. 2) Select a slightly more original Ovation…. The first Ovations came out in 1994…. Known as the O1s…. Perfectly updatable as your budget allows… Best regards, -a- 1 Quote

pchansen Posted May 12, 2022 Author Report Posted May 12, 2022 My thought was if anyone was to ever sit in the back at least they’d have a fighting chance of feeling their legs again. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Quote

PIC gets to decide… 1) If he slides his chair forwards… more room in the back seat. 2) If he slides way back…. More room in the front seat. Use as much as you need… leave the rest for the other people… -a- 1 Quote

I'm 6'4" (or used to be) and I haven't been in nearly the number of Mooneys that many people on MooneySpace have, but I doubt I could fly one with the seat too far back. The way-back seat position is for ingress/egress. Quote

It WILL make flying more challenging…. -a- Quote
carusoam Posted May 12, 2022 Report Posted May 12, 2022 There isn’t a whole lot different in the space available for the pilot… The space kind of gets defined by the yoke and pedals…. The pilot gets adjusted in his placement to them… The LBs come with nicer seats…. Where tall guys lower the seat to keep their headset from bumping the ceiling…. Once the pilot is set in place, the rest of the space is available to passengers… unfortunately aerodynamics keeps things from getting wider…. Best regards, -a- Quote

That is where I go for annuals, currently. -dan Quote

pchansen Posted May 22, 2022 Author Report Posted May 22, 2022 Good a news and bad news. I did reach out to Advanced Aircraft Services and spoke to Erin. She is the wife of Greg, the owner and runs the front office. I explained my desire to at least sit in a long body and they said no problem! Come on down.My wife and I were welcomed into their facility and Greg showed me around and I finally got to sit in a Bravo. I fit fine but there is not enough room behind my seat for anyone to fit comfortably. We discussed payload and in a nutshell, my wife said no so it’s on to Lance’s, Saratoga’s, 210’s and maybe even TR182’s. That’s the bad news as I really liked what I saw. The good news is we met Greg and Erin. They are truly wonderful people and probably took 45 minutes out of their day to speak with us. Whatever I end up getting, I believe Greg will be the guy when it comes time for any MX. A very clean and busy facility that just inspires confidence. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1 Quote
