I have a number of MOAs nearby. Frequently, I get an alarm -- audible ding + message on the G3X saying I am about to enter (or have entered) an MOA.

However, I have all airspace alarms set to OFF in the Airspace menu in Setup. On the oft chance that it is coming from the GTN 650Xi, I turned it off there, too. I still get it. Anyone else have this happen and figured out how to turn it off?

Interesting thought. I didn’t think it would do that, but I’ll check it out. Thanks.

I checked and ForeFlight doesn't have airspace alarms, so it's not coming from there.

Id guess it would probably be in the config menu. Hold menu as you turn the g3x on.

Nope. Checked that. Thrice.

Interesting.  Their methodology is usually similar, but the G1000 in my work airplane has airspace alarms in the aux chapter/setup page.  Off works there on g1000…  Have you scrolled through the possible settings other than off?  Is there a “menu” button or selection on your map page?  Because the menu button on a g1000 map page opens another likely place to find that…

I’m pretty sure the only menu item on that page is restore default settings, but I’ll check again.

Skip - you appear to be configured correctly on the G3X.  It would be good to see the alarm message to verify correlation with the specific alarm.  One other thought, when you get the alarm again you should look at the 650 to see if it's the message originator or if the G3X is simply displaying the message from your navigator. Without glancing at the configuration screen right now, I'm not aware of any alarm selection options as those are usually set on the page you have displayed.

As a side note, I often wondered who would actually use multiple alarms as they would overwhelm you causing you to tune them out.

I’ve been in contact with Garmin. No resolution yet. This began after the installation of the G3X v9.00 software package. The release note for v9.00 includes the cryptic note: “Improve audio alerting.” I suspect it’s a bug introduced in v9.00.

Incidentally mine popped on today on the G3X only and not the GNX.  I immediately thought of you.  Most of my alarms are turned off as well :)  But I did get a nice approaching VNAV descent pop up.

Are you saying you got an MOA alarm on the G3X with the MOA alarm turned off in the Alarms Setup? I'm trying to get Garmin to look into this, but they say no one else has reported this problem.

@pt20J  You can officially add me to the list.  I thought I was going to get a can not duplicate (CND) but I turned off all airspace alarms and still received a MOA alarm on the G3X--no alarm on the GNX 375 at all.  Again, I have every airspace alarm toggled off...

Hello everyone,

our software team has been able to duplicate this issue after quite a bit of testing. we found that the issue is not in the G3X software however in the lat couple of cycles of the Navigation database. this will be corrected in the 2204 cycle that will be out in the next couple of weeks.

Hey!

Trek is back!

:)

Thanks for delivering the insight…

Please check back in again as the word spreads… there may be a few more questions to go with that…

Best regards,

I verified that this is now fixed. I also verified with Trek that by design there is no way to disable the Prohibited Airspace alarms.
