Speed brakes aren't deploying.  At the cartridge connector I have power to the clutches but not the motors.  Install manual says the relay may be mounted in either the fwd or aft avionics bay.  Well, it's not in the tail cone.  Hmmmm, anybody know where the fwd avionics bay is on a Mooney?

Hoping someone has an idea where to look rather than me pulling the belly apart to trace wires.

The one piece belly is the only mod not on this plane and the one I really wish they'd done.

Check under the back seat. When I did the retrofit, it's where I put mine -- under the most forward towards center bay on the passenger side.

Doesn't require pulling the belly.

Thanks all.  Probably not under my seat with all the TKS mess under there, but if not up under the belly, that will be my next check.  Hate pulling that seat surround....

I also have TKS. The tank is on the pilot side back seat and uses all the space. On the passenger side back seat the pumps are closest to the wall towards the back, but the other area is very open.

Wow it never had speed brakes when i owned it, so the relay might not be where it would be if the factory had installed them. You might have to follow the wiring.

The fact that it doesn’t have a one piece belly is probably proof positive that it’s never been landed gear up. :)

Almost any pre-one piece belly Mooney 231 that lands gear up, gets a one piece belly as s result of the repair.

On my 262 K the relay is  above the pilot's feet behind the panel.

@LANCECASPER  That one piece belly comment is too true, and mine is part of that club!

The motors are switched on/off with the limit switches. I would be surprised that the relay would fail in this way as i believe it is has four poles. The clutches are engaged 100% when the plane is on.

Is the button actually working?

Wiring diagram attached if you don't have it already.
