JayWoodring Posted September 16, 2021 Report Posted September 16, 2021 So my airspeed indicator flew west today. So I was wondering what everyone else has been doing to replace or overhaul? I have a 1965 M20E.
Rjfanjet Posted September 17, 2021 Report Posted September 17, 2021 I had mine overhauled. Did the pitot static test and it leaked.
JayWoodring Posted September 17, 2021 Author Report Posted September 17, 2021 Where did you get the overhaul done at?

Not sure I would go back there…. Maybe it would be a good source to avoid? One of the nicest updates of an ASI I have seen around here was done by @Marauder. It included a complete refresh of the front dial with improved graphics and Kias more prominent than Mias…. Then a couple of years later… Marauder began the March towards a full digital panel…. So… compare OH costs to going digital… PP thoughts only, not a mechanic… Best regards, -a-
JayWoodring Posted September 18, 2021 Author Report Posted September 18, 2021 I was asking because if I go that route I don't use the same place that he did. Thanks for your reply.

Mid Continent Instruments did mine a few years ago. Clean, calibrated and put a new face on the dial for around $300. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro 1 1
Marauder Posted September 18, 2021 Report Posted September 18, 2021 Here is a picture of it. A little bit of glare but you can see how well the dial turned out. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk Pro 2 1
M20F-1968 Posted September 18, 2021 Report Posted September 18, 2021 I do not have a good picture but I replaced the original ASI with one I bought from Lone Star Aero in Austin, TX. They had the ASI face repainted. I seem to remember that it was done by Central Texas Avionics. It is in knots only and has a TAS movable ring. Cleans things up and gets rid of the unneeded MPH scales. I have a check list made into a booklet form, which has the information in the owners manual (NO POH in those days) converted to knots.
