Car window decided it would go down but not up. Took it apart and found the nut on the cable had broken free of the broken plastic sled it rides on. Nothing a bit of safety wire can’t fix??

 

Now notice the nut if we’ll secured in the sled

A replacement window regulator can be surprisingly inexpensive. Check your local auto parts store’s website and check for a replacement. I suspect your repair won’t last too long.

Not putting any of that Dorman junk on my car. Quality OEM is around $150. I bet that safety wire will outlive most of us.

Ford used to have this break away stuff in their window motors.  Texas heat would get to it.   We found that if you pull the junk out and fill with fiberglass mat and resin.   Would last till the car sold.   Cut your little brothers arm off with the window though.

When I was a kid, I saw my first car with power windows.  I told my Dad we should get those.  He said "Nah, you'd just be slicing watermelons with 'em."
