mooneyflyfast Posted October 26, 2020 Report Posted October 26, 2020 Saw this at Sun Valley Aviation in Harlingen, tex. this morning. Not sure which model. P&W R985? 7 Quote
Nick Pilotte Posted October 26, 2020 Report Posted October 26, 2020 I loved the Harlingen area when I was out there for business. That is seriously cool, but do they have to worry about it dripping like every other radial out there? Quote
carusoam Posted October 27, 2020 Report Posted October 27, 2020 Now... that IS art! Did you rotate the shaft? Then it would be mobile art... Best regards, -a- Quote

RLCarter Posted October 27, 2020 Report Posted October 27, 2020 It is a cool table, haven’t been over there in a while due to the COVID-19 crap Quote
N231BN Posted October 28, 2020 Report Posted October 28, 2020 It's harder to tell the difference without the nose case but it sure looks like a R-1340 sump. Beautiful table. Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted October 28, 2020 Report Posted October 28, 2020 The 1340 doesn’t have the hoses between the cylinders. Quote
PT20J Posted October 28, 2020 Report Posted October 28, 2020 It’s a R-985. Kenmore Air in Seattle will make you one. Quote

Rich, They certainly do, the cooling fin design is slightly different on a 985 as well. The biggest tell on that picture is the push rod tubes. On a 985 they attach to the nose case where on a 1340 they attach to the power section. Sorry for going all geek mode... Quote

You are correct, I looked at a bunch of engines at lunch and it appears to be an R-1340-G without the reduction gear. Quote

0TreeLemur Posted October 30, 2020 Report Posted October 30, 2020 They should put a few oily rags underneath. Then add a plaque saying "That's not oil, that's sweat from all that horsepower." Love it. 1 Quote
