metdvm Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 I acquired a Mooney Bravo this spring and all has been good. On a flight last weekend I noted that there was almost no air coming from the ceiling vents. I opened and closed the main control several times and have been on three flights since with no improvement. Does anyone know of a likely cause or simple fix? Thanks, Mike Thomsen Quote
richardheitzman Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 Vent tube that supplies the fresh air to the duct slipped past the clamp either at the vent or back by the baggage compartment. drop the ceiling panel and take a look (support it with someone helping you while you take out the screws or you will end up with bent O2 lines and all sorts of issues.) Awful_Charlie Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 Richard is more that likely on the mark, but before you go taking the ceiling down, pop the battery inspection panel, and check that the butterfly valve on the vent tube is operating via the control knob and cable. If you find the problem there, it might save you a bundle of time - depends if the cable has broken! Ben Quote
thinwing Posted September 20, 2011 Report Posted September 20, 2011 Ben advice is really good...also before you takeout ceiling...pop out one of the eyeball lights next to the vent dial...this will give you access to cable..its possible entire cable with dial and actuating lever rotated close and cable is now bound against eveball light...I personally never touch the dial..just open the eveball vents when air is desired..kpc Quote
metdvm Posted September 20, 2011 Author Report Posted September 20, 2011 Thank you for the great suggestions. I have to admit, I was clueless as to where to start. Battery compartment it is. How hard is it to pop out the ceiling light? Mike Quote
thinwing Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 not hard at all..a flat bladed screw driver and a gentile touch..kpc Quote
