Remote pilot certificate number.

I got mine about a year and a half ago.  I remember it being closer to 20-30 minutes to skip through the free online quiz to get my license.  My son is working on getting his right now (no pilots license), so he spent a around 4 hours studying and will have to pay the $150 testing fee.

I had to fill out an application  in IACRA, then had my CFI friend sign on and give it an electronic signature (I don’t understand the necessity of this part), then take the online test.

Does it expire in two years?

Now, you expect me to remember the regs?

You would think it would require that I’ve actually flown a remote aircraft, which I haven’t. I have a friend with a nice one. I watched him fly it a few times.

Lol.  No, was just wondering if it was listed on the certificate.  Between my IA and CFI, I’m already doing 2 renewals every two years which sucks up a bunch of hours.  Based on what I read, this would be another two year renewal...which seems like overkill for this.  Will dig deeper.

edit....I see Roberts response.  Seems easy enough...  I don’t have a need for it either, but may be easier to do it now and get grandfathered than later.

Took the online course exam...about 30 min...than called local fsdo with my log book showing latest BFR...it was casual Friday for the feds, and after buzzing in and getting my visitors pass, met the local fed inspector who badly needed a shave! So we st down at a table ,he looks at my last bFR..and proceeds to nitpick the write up from the CFI.The fed wanted ,besides the boiler plate CFI sing-off ,the actual time flown etc.Fortunately I could show the guy the auto track and log from Garmin pilot for the flight. That placated the guy enough to issue the temp certification, but the whole thing left a bad taste
