Danb Posted September 22, 2019 Report Posted September 22, 2019 Lost my cowl plugs, they cost between $145-$200..how would you recommend to make a pretty decent set of plugs, my Bravo isn’t out much except on vacation. Next week the Summit lots o birds, may use some big sponges for next week With our numerous CBs let me know, Quote
Bob_Belville Posted September 22, 2019 Report Posted September 22, 2019 Dan, when I change to the SabreCowl the openings went from rectangle to round. I took the old plugs to a seamstress I know at church and she made me a new set matching my new paint scheme. She reused the N# and the strap and I had scrap foam but she got the fabric and did the sewing of the new plugs with zippers to insert the foam. Cost me about $20. 1 2 Quote
DonMuncy Posted September 22, 2019 Report Posted September 22, 2019 I have two sets. One I cut out of foam, had covered and stitched with my N number, that I take to Mooney functions to impress people. The other, also cut out of foam, but not covered, that I keep in the various openings in the hangar. Both sets have wide red ribbons to help me remember to take them out. 1 Quote

Dumb question where do you buy the foam, Home Depot and Lowe’s doesn’t have any? Quote
DonMuncy Posted September 22, 2019 Report Posted September 22, 2019 I don't remember where I got mine, but I would bet the local fabric store would have some. Quote

Dan, you got to get out more... got a auto trim shop in town? They'd have scraps. Probably free. Joann Fabrics. Walmart. Amazon. Thanks Bob no dumpster diving, concentrating on getting to Summit. Can’t get a visit for a root canal until Monday after Summit, don’t know it it’s raining pouring or snowing. At least I’m back in the cockpit 1 Quote
