The oem hose is separate from the cabin environmental controls.  It just comes in through a naca duct forward of the door.  No valve / mixer or anything.  Just spits outside air behind the panel.

Correct, pictures of above:

I want to piggyback on the previous post above, asking a little more specificity.

I have an 89 J, 28 volt, with a blower fan set up like the one in the Parts Manual, section 39-40-01, page 0, number 4, 8414, Fan PAPST.

This fan probably came with the plane as I see no record of any avionics cooling fan in the logs.

It has three scat tubes (one with a tee) coming from the box and it blows cabin air at a very low rate.

Would like to replace the fan, however type in 8414 PAPST fan in google and a number of variations come up.

Has anyone bought one, from who, and can guide me in my quest?

I'm a bit confused. According to the IPC, the fan you mention is for a 28V to 14V power converter. But you describe an avionics cooling fan with scat tubes which is a different part. The factory installed fan should be listed in the equipment list within the W&B section of the POH/AFM. I have one of these if you need it.

I had a cooling fan factory installed to cool the original king silver crown package. After my avionics upgrade I found the fan was still there and all of the tubes stuffed into the center console doing nothing. All of the new radios have their own fans and none have ports to attach the scat tube. So I had the fan removed. I still have it if anybody wants a 28v 1997 factory cooling fan.
