RedSkyFlyer Posted March 1, 2019 Report Posted March 1, 2019 Hello All, Just bought myself a 231K here in the UK. Currently installing some new avionics and motor. It just so happens I'm flying out to Dallas for work next week, I have the 13th & 14th March free to do some flying. I was wondering whether anyone could recommend an instructor to do some familiarity training before I get let loose in my own AC back home, hoping to squeeze in a good few hours with a CFI. Currently: PPL - 100hr in Arrow (high tail) Midway through my IR(R). Quote
Bob_Belville Posted March 1, 2019 Report Posted March 1, 2019 Try Jerry Johnson. He's in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Great instructor. From Mooney Flyer web site: "Jerry Johnson, Southwest Texas. Email: Mooney9281V@Hotmail.Com. 817-454-2426. Commercial, SEL/MEL CFII, Glider, Typed In C-500'S. Member MAPA Safety Foundation. Owned Mooneys For Over 30 Years. Total: 11,000 +; Mooney: 6000." Quote
mike_elliott Posted March 1, 2019 Report Posted March 1, 2019 I dont know of any CFI in the Dallas area that also has a Mooney to use as a trainer. In fact, the only place I know of that does have a Mooney to rent is in Ocala Fl. but hopefully there are others. Parker Woodruff may be able to help. Young, fearless, ambitious Quote

Parker_Woodruff Posted March 1, 2019 Report Posted March 1, 2019 Unfortunately I don't have an M20K anymore and I don't think anyone around here has one that's insured to operate for commercial uses (Instruction & Rental). If you wanted to go for a ride, @DonMuncy always seems to be looking for an excuse to fly 1 Quote
40-0Flight Posted March 1, 2019 Report Posted March 1, 2019 Coastal Skies Aero Club has a Rental Mooney at KLVJ Pearland Regional (Houston, TX area). Though I hear it had landing gear issue a few weeks back, not sure if its back up and running yet. Quote

MBDiagMan Posted March 5, 2019 Report Posted March 5, 2019 Midland is not near Dallas. It is some 300 miles away. Don Munch could probably give an outstanding introductory ride, and I’m pretty sure his is a K. Quote

We can probably arrange a look/sit/ride, but I am not a CFI, and I don't think my insurance would cover any training. Be sure to call me when you are here. At very worst I will buy you lunch and show you the plane. 214 207-6744 1 Quote
RedSkyFlyer Posted March 10, 2019 Author Report Posted March 10, 2019 @Parker_Woodruff @DonMuncy The more air time I can get In the AC before I go out in my Tod the better! Happy to sit right hand seat and pay for gas! I have literally nothing to do on either 13/14th so I’ll just be twiddling my fingers in the Hôtel watching planes departing Dallas Love Field, would be cool I f someone would be kind enough to take me up!
