2) When installed 90° off from best orientation… it burns out within a few hours after being jostled strongly…

I think vibration has a lot to do with the premature failures. Hot filaments and vibration don’t do well together.

Interestingly, I never ever replaced my incandescent landing light for 26 years. I didn’t leave it on all the time, but it was always on for 10 miles either arriving or departing an airport. I only changed it out when I got the LED bug.
