M20D6607U Posted July 5, 2018 Report Posted July 5, 2018 The face plate is leaking on my airspeed indicator. Mid-Continent will not service it. M20D/C If you have one please let me know. Thanks Ron Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted July 5, 2018 Report Posted July 5, 2018 Did you try another instrument shop? Quote
M20D6607U Posted July 6, 2018 Author Report Posted July 6, 2018 I have calls into a couple. Also Faeth Aircraft parts are near here in Sacramento. All I want is a face plate gasket. Mid-Continent said the hands are 'radio active' or Hot. Quote
carusoam Posted July 7, 2018 Report Posted July 7, 2018 Ron, Do you have the original clock on the yoke as well...? It may have glow in the dark hands too. The glow in the dark hands have gone out of use in the the 70s..? there may be a few different hands and faces of instruments that got that treatment... California Probably has written laws outlawing such things... Not incredibly hazardous... but not needed either... since the invention of the LED... May require sending to a shop outside of CA... Best regards, -a- 1 Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted July 7, 2018 Report Posted July 7, 2018 looks to me like the hands have been repainted in the past. The radium paint usually looks thicker and a bit crumbly. When I was a kid we always used old watch hands to build our cloud chambers. Where are kids supposed to get their radioactive material these days? 1 Quote
N201MKTurbo Posted July 7, 2018 Report Posted July 7, 2018 You could always just ask the instrument shop for a gasket and lay it on top of glare shield. It may magically install itself one night when nobody is looking.... 1 Quote
