  1. I greatly appreciate the help! I’m told by my electrical expert that the B&C starter is the only one made in the USA. They feature all metal gears (not plastic) and an Electro-mechanical pinion actuation (no bendix drive and weighs 10.2 drive. So I’m going with it and replacing the baffling as recommended here. The starter is buried in there and is not an easy replacement. Thank You for the feedback Have a great day Ron
  2. Hi Group! I'm replacing the starter motor on My M20D and the B&C Specialty BC315-100-2 came highly recommended by the electrical shop. B&C said there may be some fit issues on the M20E but no notations for my model M20D. Has anyone ran into this. I had a Prestolite starter previously. Thanks Ron
  3. Hi Paul! You know this plane well. Rudy Gonsalves N6607U. The gear doors are rigged perfectly. I called up and left a message for Robert the other day and am waiting for a call back. I would like to take it up to your place (Lasar) and have the experts check it out. I did not know the sockets should be lubed. I can jack it up and swing the gear. Ron
  4. Thank-you for the recommendation. I will inspect the socket and then I'm going to put the plane on jacks and swing the gear
  5. Hi guys. This may sound funny, but i'm having a little trouble with my johnson bar when retracting the gear. I'm having trouble getting it to go into the lower socket, it's not easy. Can this be an indication of the gear being out of adjustment or something else. I do try to twist the handle while stowing in the socket, but I don't think it should be the difficult. Thanks for the help Ron
  6. I have a brand new Mid-Continent Glideslope Course deviation indicator MD200-706 I bought it to team up with my Garmin GTN-650, but since I added two G-5s, I do not need this indicator anymore The retail for $2620.00 I'll accept $2000 for it. I have all copies of purchase.
  7. Hi Brad! Thank-you for this post! Very helpful. I am trying to do much of the work prior to the avionics guy taking over. I would be happy to pay you to make the two brackets you made for the GAD-29B and the GMU-11, if that is possible. Your post has made it possible to take a lot of guess work out of the install. You Rock! Ron
  8. Thank you for the reply I called Pacific Southwest Instruments and the are looking up the face plate gasket. I hope someone will sneak in my hangar and replace the gasket
  9. The second one should work as it has the same markings. Hopefully the face plate is just dirty. Thank you Ron
  10. I have calls into a couple. Also Faeth Aircraft parts are near here in Sacramento. All I want is a face plate gasket. Mid-Continent said the hands are 'radio active' or Hot.
  11. The face plate is leaking on my airspeed indicator. Mid-Continent will not service it. M20D/C If you have one please let me know. Thanks Ron
  12. My airspeed indicator leaks at the face plate. Anyone have one sitting around? Thanks Ron C
  13. If the spacers were correctly placed when the mounts were replaced prior, the engine will be higher and the proper gap restored. Such is the case with my M20D. Plus less vibration. Then have your prop balanced. It's amazing to see how much weight and pressure are on those mounts and they last as long as they do. All the mounts should be torqued the same amount. You can tell by how many threads are left on the end of the bolt. Not to tight and not to loose. There is a torque setting for those.
  14. Yes a load leveler, helps the angle of the dangle! And yes, attached to the engine lift point and I used a strap around the prop.
  15. There is a trick to replace the mounts. The bolts do not go straight in the mount holes. You have to bent the mount inward to go in. I had small shims on top and thick ones on the bottom. They do fall out so be ready. Do the bottom two first and them the top's will be lined up. I had to modify a box wrench to work in the top left. A cherry picker with a pitch changer works good.
  16. Hi Par, I have a 63 M20D. It's time to replace the carpet and I would like to take your advice and use SCS for my carpet. I have the same dimensions as you. Do you have their contact info. Thanks for the post! Ron
  17. Thank-you for the help. I removed the airspeed indicator as the face plate leaked. Tightened up the face plate screws and had my avionics guy test it, no leak. It's back in the panel! Happy flying!
  18. I have the old generator hole that is not plugged also. I will block it off. I talked to the service manager at LASAR and he said the design of the doghouse is flawed, and to extend the cowl door links and climb out full rich at 120 mph. I also found my carb heat was adjusted wrong and half deployed. My engine seems to cool quicker though still climbs to low 400's on takeoff. My engine builder says it's not a problem. A lot of great advice here! I did install a JPI EDM 800 with fuel flow. Very nice unit.
  19. I'm wondering if anyone has or makes an affordable replacement panel overlay for the left side of my panel. Thank you for the help! Ron
  20. My airspeed indicator leaks at the face plate and is kind of expensive to repair. Anyone have one on the shelf. Mine is ok for VFR flight but not IFR. P/N AW-23/4-20-B US Gauge Co. Thanks for checking Ron
  21. 11.5:1 is what my friend Andy uses for his J. Wondering is my D/C is the same. Thanks for the feedback! Ron
