Stnelson903 Posted May 23, 2018 Report Posted May 23, 2018 I have a ‘78 M20k 231. On the under side of the glare shield on the pilots side is a black plastic cover. It’s oddly shaped. It doesn’t look like a light. Anybody know what it is? S. T. Nelson N231JG Just Go
jaylw314 Posted May 23, 2018 Report Posted May 23, 2018 Is it where the handle to pull yourself forward should be?
Stnelson903 Posted May 24, 2018 Author Report Posted May 24, 2018 I’ll take a pic tomorrow. I don’t think a handle would be in that spotS. T. NelsonN231JGJust Go

The "handle" I pull myself forward with does triple duty as a central steel frame member and magnetic compass mount . . . . . But al least my gear goes up and down with minimal finger effort in just a couple of seconds. 1
N201MKTurbo Posted May 24, 2018 Report Posted May 24, 2018 It may be a light that is supposed to light up the OAT gage and such. It has probably been burned out and nobody knew what it was.
carusoam Posted May 24, 2018 Report Posted May 24, 2018 From what little I know... The only thing in glare shields are lights and a compass... The compass is on top. So it’s not a compass in your case... As far as handles go... we all share the center tube... some are SS for improved magnetism issues... ST, the pic is going to be required, i’m Afraid... Best regards, -a-
Stnelson903 Posted May 24, 2018 Author Report Posted May 24, 2018 I agree on the price of tubing in the center being a great handle. I’ll b at the plane tomorrow. The light for the oat sounds feasible. S. T. NelsonN231JGJust Go

Stnelson903 Posted May 26, 2018 Author Report Posted May 26, 2018 Is this what you are talking about? Yep. Two burned out bulbs behind it. FixedS. T. NelsonN231JGJust Go 2 1
