jsclafani Posted March 8, 2018 Report Posted March 8, 2018 Was just informed by Auto Pilots Central that my KAP 150, which just all of a sudden stopped working is not repairable. Does anyone know where I might find a KAP 150 Mod 3 to buy as a replacement fo mine? Quote
mike_elliott Posted March 8, 2018 Report Posted March 8, 2018 Jim, if you can hold off just a wee bit, I think you will find some very nice options available from Tru Trac, Garmin and Trio Quote
carusoam Posted March 8, 2018 Report Posted March 8, 2018 Any idea why it was deemed not repairable? Somebody posted some pictures of a capacitor falling out of its mount in a BK AP. A while back... Unfortunately, I don’t recall enough details to know if it was a KAP150... Best regards, -a- Quote
KSMooniac Posted March 8, 2018 Report Posted March 8, 2018 You might contact Mid Continent Instruments in Wichita.Sent from my LG-US996 using Tapatalk Quote

Easy install of computer swap and a 3 year warranty on the complete system including your existing servos. Quote

These people work on circuit boards on the King Autopilots - might be worth a phone call. https://www.bevanrabell.com/avionics-bench-repair/capabilities-list/ Quote

I was flying along and all of a sudden I heard a pop and saw smoke coming out the the KAP 150 computer. Long story short, I sent the unit to Autopilot Central and they replaced a 35 year old capacitor that blew up, outlined in red. I can't recall but I think the cost was about $1,200. 1 Quote

CaptRJM Posted March 9, 2018 Report Posted March 9, 2018 I think the KFC 230 will come out a couple of years after the KI 300 is available. BK has the reputation of over promise and under deliver when it comes to GA. Quote
