meddesign Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 Introducing PropPastie. This item was inspired by a discussion on the MAPA discussion board about how one should position the propeller in winter. Enjoy, and "off line" comments and encouragements would be appreciated. PropPastie.com Don B
carusoam Posted April 6, 2011 Report Posted April 6, 2011 Nice idea. [1] Want to keep water and sunshine out/off of the prop seal. [2] Need to keep water from collecting in the spinner. It inevitably freezes and causes an imbalance. There is always an argument on how best to park your prop... [1] Horizontal, people walk into it, or the pilot bumps his head on it while performing pre-fligt activities. [2] Vertical, birds land on the tip and leaving droppings that run down the length of it. I park mine at about a 15 degree angle off vertical. Water doesn't collect, birds can't land on it, modern seals are somewhat UV resistant and water tight. Can I get a cover for my fuel caps? It is hard to get them opened when they are full of ice..... Best regards, -a-
meddesign Posted April 6, 2011 Author Report Posted April 6, 2011 thanks, In winter a blade open on the bottom to drain any water to keep from freezing in the spinner, summer your way is good.
