JDM Posted November 9, 2017 Report Posted November 9, 2017 Hello all new guy here for the most part. Have been lurking around for while here and there. Student pilot in the Tulsa Oklahoma area. I’m really interested in Mooney’s obviously. Although ,never actually been in one. From what I read it’s what I want. Is there anyone in my area that might let me sit in one or take me for a ride? thanks 1 Quote
carusoam Posted November 9, 2017 Report Posted November 9, 2017 Welcome aboard JDM. Standby for an answer from somebody in your neighborhood. You may want to write a bit introducing yourself... Best regards, -a- Quote
Raptor05121 Posted November 9, 2017 Report Posted November 9, 2017 Welcome. Tell us about yourself. Mooney's are a bit different. Are you okay with strapping into a Porsche 911 track car with a roll cage? That's kinda what they are like that to get in/out of and fly. Quote
JDM Posted November 9, 2017 Author Report Posted November 9, 2017 Well, I’m a bit of a late bloomer as it pertains to flying. I’m 42. As far a strapping into somethin with a rollcage not a big deal I raced sprint cars in my younger years. Quote

Now I'm 45, just crossed 200 hours and 140 of those were in my Mooney. (Still puts a smile on my face and a bit of wonderment every time I say "my Mooney") 2 Quote
rbridges Posted November 9, 2017 Report Posted November 9, 2017 I was 38. Is there anyone else at your local airport that would give you a ride? Quote
JDM Posted November 10, 2017 Author Report Posted November 10, 2017 The only one I’ve seen around so far was setting without an engine I’m guessing it was time for an overhaul. Quote
INA201 Posted November 10, 2017 Report Posted November 10, 2017 39 when I started flying, now 48 and it still ain't too late. Jump on in! You'll only regret it if you don't give it a go. 1 Quote
Niko182 Posted November 10, 2017 Report Posted November 10, 2017 I guess I could say I was a bit younger getting my license. I started at 14. Quote

It's never too late. Welcome to Mooney space. 2 1 Quote

Mooneymite Posted November 10, 2017 Report Posted November 10, 2017 I see nothing wrong with starting to fly at a "mature age". The reason the military recruits and trains young people to fly is that it requires its pilots to do highly questionable things. A mature pilot would know better! Incidentally.....Happy VETERANS DAY to all you who served our country. Thank you. Thank you! 5 Quote
