Someone just needs to check the Performance Tables. For my C, it's 12,500, 16"/2300, good for a little over 7 hours plus reserves. But Ovations burn more fuel and have larger tanks.

I don't want to be in my plane that long without getting up.and walking around some. Four hour legs aren't a problem, I get twitchy at 4:30.

Longest flight I’ve ever had was about 14 hours, in a crop duster without an autopilot.

You learn to deal with it.

I once flew my F as long as Jose’s piss tube, miss him.

310HP STC: I see 13 GPH at 170 KTAS (typical) when LOP, and average closer to 15 GPH  on a long trip, when you factor the high fuel burn of climbing.  For my margins this can go about 800 nm.  With the full family and not demanding ultra-light packing and keeping the TKS full, I can only take on 75 gals, which means around 650 nm, which is enough longer than my typical 600 nm mission to see in-laws that it prompted me to buy this plane.

My J was overall more fuel efficent, but slower.  I did +800 nm in that with the standard 64 gal tanks.

  • M20R LOP: 13 GPH at 170 KTAS = 13 nmpg
  • M20J LOP: 8.5 GPH at 150 KTAS = 17 nmpg

You can get better economy in the M20R if you go much slower, but that is beyond my tolerance for speed-range tradeoffs.

You think you guys go places in your Mooney?

Just look at this Mooney 25 years ago!

Honeymooney visited 06A when I was based there, back in 2015. It was their 3rd or 4th trip to the U.S. Wish I could have met them, but just saw the plane on the ramp and googled it.

Absolutely awesome trips!!

My own longest trip was ~1350 nm, KHWV-->KCOD, but we were sightseeing and spent two nights going each way.

The longest single leg that comes to mind would either be KALX-->KJGG or KALX-->T41; both were ~4:00 not counting wind. I did three roundtrips to Houston, flight times ranged from 3:00 to 4:40 (tailwinds are rare but very nice).

Is Jose not around anymore? I am planning an Atlantic crossing this summer and he seemed to be a wealth of knowledge.

This is perfect Dan as I fly the M20R with the 310 STC and FIKI so I will likely see similar numbers as yourself.

I use my D model for traveling having done HOU from St George Utah/LAS or PGA many times and one trip St George to Tampa and back. Portland OR, Montana, Oklahoma, Indy, have all been destinations over the years. (@ 2700 hrs in this airplane over the years)

Longest leg hand flown was 5+18 going to Kansas City but I don't remember where I stopped for fuel (and I don't want to dig into the books to try to find that flight 20 years ago).

All hand flown until recently with the new autopilot install.
