My wife ultimately decided on the I-Pad II.  She has enjoyed it and uses it exclusively to surf while in front of t.v. and a little e-booking.  I bought a yoke mount to get her "tracking" our progress in the air to improve her GPMS skills.  I wonder if it is possible that Garmin (I have 696 panel mounted) will release a sofware update for 696 that would include a VFR synthetic view?  Maybe as Dave says liability and other products will not allow this.  I look at it that rather than "cheating into the soup" with the capability...as with the existing panel back-up on the 696 this could be a life-saver with inadvertant VFR into IFR...

Anyway NO pad for me...yet.
