AaronDC8402 Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 Triad has our engine for overhaul right now. I'm looking forward to seeing how they do with it. 1 Quote
nickmatic Posted May 9, 2017 Author Report Posted May 9, 2017 Jewell does indeed seem to be a jewel... Sam is super knowledgeable and helpful. In the end though the price came out about the same as for Triad in NC, so I'm gonna go with Triad given my rapport with Othman and that he seems to have a good relationship with Rich at Executive in Myrtle Beach. Man the costs keep adding up... taking the engine out and putting it back in will be over $5k on top, plus flushing the prop and governor are extra. Talk about stressful. I could buy a Cessna for what this is going to cost Quote

Bob_Belville Posted May 9, 2017 Report Posted May 9, 2017 Aw, it's just money. What else are you going to do with it? Eat? Pay the mortgage? Spend it on ungrateful kids? Let the inheritance tax get it? 2 Quote

Jewell was great to talk to, and a friend recently had his engine overhauled by them. In the end, costs were starting to add up the same, and our mechanic already works with Triad on most overhauls. So Triad got the work. Quote

AaronDC8402 Posted May 10, 2017 Report Posted May 10, 2017 We're expecting Triad to be done in a couple of weeks. We're two weeks into an estimated 4 week turn-around from Triad. I'm guessing AGL will take a few days to get it installed and buttoned up. With some luck, the plane will be in the air again first week of June. 2 Quote

Gear up landing so also got new prop and Lynn rebuilt the one piece belly. Under 2 months. 1 Quote
