Hello everyone, I would like to introduce myself.

I have had my pilot's license for a few years now and I am about to complete my instrument rating. In the time I have been flying I have owned a very nice Cessna 175. Since getting into the instrument flight I have realized that my trusty old Skylark just won't meet our needs anymore and I have decided to sell it instead of upgrading the avionics. This prompted me to do a bunch that have led me to Mooneys.

I had a lot of fun researching what I want to get as a follow-on to the 175. The Mooney came out on top with its performance, economy, and predicted life cycle costs. I have determined that I am looking for a M20F or J between 1969 and 1977. I imagine I'll be talking in the vintage area a lot too.

So far I have learned a lot about the type from this site and have come to appreciate the knowledge base that is here. I am looking forward to starting shopping but I have to get my check ride done and sell the 175. I am also looking forward to joining the Mooney community.

Well howdy Gerbil. Glad you decide to come over to Mooney. Lots of info here, so ask lots of questions, post the plane you thinking of. You will get alot feed back on it.

Welcome Gerbil.  I'm too new at Mooney ownership to offer much more than a hardy welcome.  There is a treasure trove of knowledgable people on this board who are willing to help with just about anything.

Hi Gerbil,

I'm in Dayton now visiting my daughter. I have an F that is not for sale but I would be happy to show it off none-the-less. Which airport are you based out of?

Welcome! :).

My first airplane (1973) was a 1959 Cessna 175, N7657M.   Great fun memories of that plane! :D

Enjoy your upcoming Mooney experiences.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Mooney aircraft!

My first airplane was a 1974 M20F. Great plane!  Incredible bang for the buck!

An F or a J should be a great transition from the Cessna. Enjoy!
